The first* fully submersed PC

Thu, Nov 27, 2008

A base model can go for $3k+. The one they are showing here is worth $10k. If you need to overclock everything, have 3 video cards, install 2 TBs, and still need your computer COLD, then fork out the cash for this beast.

btw, Olivia. I love you.

Not the first. There are videos of people building mineral oil submerged PCs on the web from 2006. Olivia said it was submerged in “water”, which would short out the system. It’s oil, which is non-conductive. You can build your own for much less than $10,000 if you want using an aquarium and about 30 gallons of mineral oil. Also, if you look at tomshardware.com (where they’ve had videos of oil cooled PCs for about a year) you’ll find that oil cooling does not perform as well as liquid cooling or even a good air cooling setup. Oil cooling is junk.
