Apparently, the previous law in effect right now, that drivers over the age of 18 must use hands-free devices while behind the wheel did not technically specify that drivers cannot call and text.
The state of California, after an incident where an engineer of a train sent a text message 22 seconds before the train crashed and killed 25 people, implented this law due to this incident.
Also, I guess people just don’t realize when California made the first law, that you shouldn’t use your phone at all behind driving.
For the retarted people that don’t know how to interpret a law, the law enforcers must dumb it down for many people to understand.
