Although this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a display technology that allows two different images to be displayed on one screen concurrently only visible from the correct viewing angles, but this is the first time that it’s been put into a production vehicle. The Mercedes-Benz Splitview Command Display allows the driver and the front seat passenger to view the same display but with two different images. This means as you’re ardiously trying to navigate your way through the traffic with the help of your trusty GPS, your passenger can be watching a movie or the latest episode of Desperate Housewives, trying not to be distracting. The problem I can forsee with this system is that if your passenger bursts into laughter next to you, it’s only going to cause an accident when you crane your neck across to see what she’s pissing herself over.

Another useless piece of “new” technology that has already been done by iPhone. Just get an iPhone car dock and bam, you got your videos and GPS.
