So by now most of you will have seen the recent teaser posted on the Konami website for ‘the next Metal Gear’. For those of you who haven’t yet, get your asses over then and view it. It’ll only take a minute I promise.
As teasers go this is definitely one of the more cryptic ones, the only information we can definitely gain is that it is going to be a Metal Gear game, that it will be available from Konami (and I guess that you will be able to play it sometime).
Speculation on our part but this could be ‘you + MG = MG on’. It definitely resembles the power on symbol. Does that indicate some sort of ‘online’ element? Metal Gear MMO? It could be an interesting rumour what with Metal Gear Online already about, maybe Konami are going to take the idea further with their next instalment. Of course there’s also the passing resemblance to the Xbox 360 power button, linked in with green on black that used to be the trademark of the original Xbox. Rumours are also flying around of a Metal Gear Mobile, could this be a mobile game that ties into the Metal Gear world? Also food for thought is the omission of ‘Solid’. This Metal Gear game might be without the beloved Snake, having been retired in Guns of the Patriots as was hinted at in a 1Up interview with Ryan Payton.
If you our dear readers have any other ideas, post in comments, let us know what you’re speculating whether it’s down right crazy or on the money all ideas are welcome.
I think that it’s probably a 360 edition. So long as they keep the PS3 THE priority though, I don’t mind too much. I’m between that and an online iPhone game. That would rock.
i believe indigit4l is correct. or at least i assume he is. i heard a comment somewhere that that explains that the “equation” is 180 degrees + another 180 degrees = 360. it seemed very logical. so who knows. but man… if metal gear will no longer be ps3 exclusive… whats the point of having a ps anymore… first final fantasy XIII… now metal gear? oh well…
ps3 good for blu-ray. But then again, we all know the future of media will be in “clouds”. Example, HD Netflix streaming on 360.
Now that’s a good point 360 degrees. It will definitely be interesting to see. I do know that Sony aren’t paying for exclusives any more. Like you indigit4l I hope they take the PS3 as the lead development machine rather porting across from the 360. Porting to the PS3 is the reason why sometimes the mutliplatform games come out weaker on the PS3 even though it has more horsepower under the hood (however it is more complex). PS3 is arguably a better multimedia machine than the 360 too but it’s still no HTPC replacement. It’s a pity Netflix isn’t coming to the PS3.
