Final Fantasy XIII and Advent Children

Hello there fellow Pixel-Gamers.  Every week I am going to go over any big news involving the video game industry as well with giving heads up on future game endeavors, as well with some occasional video game reviews.

I can’t start this post without mentioning what I believe was the biggest news to me.  The latest official trailer for Final Fantasy XIII has been released and gives us the fans a good look into what we can expect to be in this chapter’s world, characters, and  as well with some gameplay.  Here’s the trailer: (be sure to check out the HD version)

Other big news that involve the world of Final Fantasy is the announcement of the Blu Ray version of the CG movie: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children with 3 different ways to obtain them.  The regular edition with 30 mins of never before seen footage; first edition with Final Fantasy XIII demo, Final Fantasy Agito XIII trailer, and Final Fantasy Versus XIII trailer; and the PS3 bundle that includes the First Edition Blu Ray as well with a customized FF VII: Advent Children PS3.  All 3 editions will be made available to Japan on April 16.  No word yet on a U.S. release date.

CAN’T WAIT!!!

CBS.com sucks

cbssucks

Over here at pixelatedgeek we have an unofficial set of rules- our guidelines or eight fold path if you will, that have a fight club-like effect on the members of our dear little site- Rule 1. Get Money and Get Paid our second and our final rule- GET MONEY AND GET PAID. So you can imagine my dismay when I arrived at CBS.com to watch How I Met your Mother, expecting a Red Rider Bee bee gun only to find a child size bunny suit for Christmas. If twitter and Digg aren’t your normal sources of information, CBS.com does not host their shows on their website. CBS’s blatant disregard for rules 1 and effectively 2 leads to the conclusion that CBS.com is not a place for the internet community and ultimately to the idea that CBS.com sucks.

Apple iPhone update 2.2.1

iphone-221

Apple has just updated both the iPhone/iPhone 3G and the iPod Touch to 2.2.1. For iPhone users Apple states Safari Web browser stability improvements and a bug fixed where some images saved from Mail do not display correctly in the Camera Roll. Unmentioned by Apple but confirmed is that now on the iPhone 3G Safari no longer reloads each tab when you switch to it which should speed up your browsing experience somewhat.

For iPod Touch users you can expect to find the same bug fixes plus a fix for Apple Lossless format playback skipping.

Nothing particularly exciting but I must admit I’m pleased now that tabbed browsing doesn’t mean constant reloads.

iPhone App Review: Bejeweled 2

Another day another game for the iPhone. Today we will be looking at PopCap’s Bejeweled 2 for the iPhone/iTouch. Released on the 19th of August it is currently available for $2.99 (£1.79) from the App Store and is currently in the Top 50 Paid apps having garnered some favorable reviews.

Bejeweled 2 is the first game from PopCap to be released on the iPhone and is arguably their flagship product. PopCap first brought the game as a stylistic “match three”-style action puzzle game to the web garnering many an addicted follower. It was then ported to many mobile devices by the great studio Astraware. With Astraware’s aid Bejeweled helped secure PopCap’s reputation as a premium casual game publisher that even your granny might know about. Bejeweled 2 is the updated successor to Bejeweled that again found itself on many devices branching across Windows Mobile and Palm OS and has now arrived on the iPhone.

Hit the read link for more on one of the best games for the iPhone.
