An HTML rendering of the App Store (read: App Store minus iTunes) has been made available by Appspot. The website was created using the Google App Engine by taking the XML of the App Store out of iTunes and creating an HTML version for your web browsing pleasure. It’s ideal for those who don’t want to load up iTunes to just find out information on an app or just feel like browsing from Firefox.
I’m not sure how long this will last, Apple is unlikely to be happy about this and their lawyers are particularly well paid. Other sites also provide a similar function, but not such exact replicas. We shall soon see what approach Apple takes over this. What do they say? ‘Mimicry is the sincerest form of flattery’.
