Dope Wars Drugs

For those of us who don’t want to Jailbreak out precious iPhones there currently isn’t a native app available to hit that old school Dope/Drug Wars craving. There is a fair approximation in the form of a sugar coated Candy trading app Prohibition 3: Candy Wars, but some how even though it’s got the same dynamic as the original Dope Wars the fact that you’re dealing in chocolate and Hard Candy instead of Weed takes the edge off the game. It’s unlikely that Apple would ever approve an actual drug trading game entry into the App Store so their is only place left to turn for your dealing fix, the web.

Locations

Dope Wars (by Andy Poes) the free web app runs in Mobile Safari (or other browser), but is formatted so well that you could be forgiven for thinking that you were playing a bonefide native app. All the features you’d expect from Dope Wars is there including the ability to tailor your coat with more pockets, buy a gun and hop between Manhatten, Broklyn, Bronx, Queens and Statan Island. The cops still chase after you and you can choose to turn and fight, if you have a gun, or try to flee. When you fight the cops you have a chance of ‘disarming’ the officers (a polite way of saying murdering) and taking their cash. There’s also the risk of being mugged whilst travelling between places, why you can’t whip out your gun and blast those fools is beyond me, so maybe it’s wise to keep those funds in the bank. You start each game with a loan that you can choose the value of (2500 at 3%, 5000 at 5% and 7500 at 7%) and the rates, which you have to pay back in the course of or at the end of 32 days. You can also make deposits in the bank with variable interest to try and earn more money, unless of course they go under, wouldn’t suprise me. When your 32 days are through you can submit to an online score board to see whether you’re a drug Baron or just a mule.

Dope Wars Purchase

The whole web app runs very smoothly and in the abscence of an available native app does the job quite admirably. So if you’re after an old school fix of Dope Wars, head on over to Dope Wars on your iPhone and be sure to bookmark it. If however you fancy a more tame version of the same thing you can of course check out more of Andy Poes’ offerings such as Office Wars or of course the native app Prohibition 3: Candy Wars.
