Yesterday, a friend of mine gave me a link to ComputerTan.com. The following is a transcript of the conversation:
Friend: i dont know if its fake or not. i mean… is it?
Me: wait, are you serious?
Friend: well i dont know. we can put a man on the moon we cant tan through our computers. is it that crazy?
Me: um… have you been drinking again?
Friend: noooo. well 10 beers
Me: yea dude. time to stop for today
Friend: haha. buts its only 11am
Me: stop
To the untrained eye, this site may seem real. But if you go through the whole site, you’ll see it’s just a PSA (public service announcement) about skin cancer and harmful UV rays. The agceny who put this site together has really done a good job of making this “new technology” real. That is, until you get to the “tanning” part which is only a JPG of tanning lights. If getting a tan from a computer screen was real, then people would be leaving their offices everyday looking like this douche:
