Skyfire Browser

I know on Pixelatedgeek.com you see a lot of iPhone and Mac apps. Well, now I’m here so Windows users don’t fret (I own no Macs. My hardware for future reference: 1 custom made desktop with Windows XP, Two Dell Vostro 1700 laptops running Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows 7 Beta, One Alienware Area 51 M17x Laptop running Vista Ultimate and a HTC Touch Pro with Windows Mobile 6.1… yes I’m showing off.)

I constantly Beta test Windows Mobile based software. So from time to time I’ll post up my most useful applications that I’m using. Today we’re going to talk about Skyfire Beta Web Browser.

Skyfire Web Browser for Windows Mobile

For those of you not familiar with Skyfire (which by questioning people are not that many.) I want to introduce this fantastic web browser. Yes, it’s been around but most people don’t know that. Besides, it’s still a beta.

This is a video of the CEO giving a demo of Skyfire back at DEMO 2008 it’s kind of boring but I don’t have the time to make one for you guys.

From my test of many Windows Mobile based web browsers skyfire is my number 1 pick overall.  Why you ask? Flash. That’s right, flash integrated in to the browser. Yes, this means you can go on sites like youtube, hulu and vimeo to watch videos and it does not have to be the mobile version of the site. You can infact even watch the live broadcast of Pixelated Live (Wednesdays 7:30pm) from your Windows based mobile phone. If your phone has audio out you can even use sites like Pandora or Imeem in the car or at the gym. If you can’t open a page in IE or Opera, I bet you can in skyfire.

I’ve been testing this thing since the beginning, but now here’s the new hotness. With the release of 0.9 Beta they’ve integrated your favorite social networking sites (twitter, facebook) in to the browser to bring you live feeds.n30327969105_1288787_5767

It can import RSS feeds and all that good stuff in to your browser home page. The best part about it is that it renders the website at the server as opposed to something like Opera that tries its hardest to render it on your phone. This means faster loading time.

What more can I say? Fast loading, Flash, Facebook, Twitter… together as one in the palm of your hand. Check it out at www.skyfire.com
