Ok. I have to admit something.  I never was or ever have been a Trekkie.  But after watching this trailer, it’s making me want to become one.  I hope the hardcore Trekkies wont mind a bunch of noobs calling themselves Trekkies after seeing this and the movie.

Star Trek come out in theathers May 8th 2009.

Bravo Mr. Abrams.  You have just made this year of movies much more epic.

thanks for posting this. “Trekkie” is the larval stage of “Trekker”. You graduate after passing the requirements of memorizing scripts, attending conventions (in costume), making sandwiches and fetching drinks for the Trekkers. There is even a special hat and handshake.

I think this looks awesome but I need really low tech special effects to believe this is Kirk’s son.

The trailer looks cool, but the OP seems to be jumping on the bandwagon. “Bravo Mr. Abrams. You have just made this year of movies much more epic.” No one’s seen the movie yet; it could really suck, and history shows us that’s well within the realm of possibility.

Hardcore Trekkies probably will mind. After all, the term Trekkie (or Trekker, to be more correct) is supposed to be used to denote someone who is a big fan of the original series. Most circles also require one to have seen Wrath of Kahn as well. But calling someone who’s just seen this trailer and even this upcoming movie is like calling your average teenage guitarist a rock star.

As for the actual movie, the right people are at least working on it, so it has a chance to be good. However, my cynicism when it comes to Hollywood knows no bounds; I’m not getting my hopes up.

Actually it’s young Kirk, not his son.
