The novelty of Google Street View still hasn’t warn off over here in the UK. From vomiting, to pissing to people roaming the streets with guns, Google Street View does a decent enough job of anonymizing all types of miscreants. However a slip up here, sent into us by Ken, has Google Street View caught as a racist. From the expression on his face this poor fellow, minding his own business, damn curious about what the car with the large globe camera sticking out the roof was doing, was caught on the streets of South East London. This is the first instance I’ve seen at least of Google not blurring out someone’s face. I wonder how the poor chap feels about this. An official complaint has been made to the Information Commissioner here in the UK, which may end up having Street View shut down. If this is the kind of thing you can find across the service, Google really isn’t allaying concerns over privacy issues. If you know him, get in touch, we’ll see what he has to say.
