Truth be told, I wasn’t expecting anything to happen when the countdown on the Kojima Productions site reached 0. They already jerked us around once so I figured that once the page refreshed, it would reveal an even stormier background with more cryptic letters.

Turns out I was half right…emphasis on half. While the expected did happen, something unexpected turned up. Just like the letters, lightning strikes every now and then to reveal the face of Solid Snake’s original nemesis, as well as his father, Big Boss. The countdown clock reset to 116 hours, which is about 4 days or so from now. I get the feeling this is probably leading up to the official countdown to their E3 announcement.

Oooh...Next Gen Big Boss

In addition to the picture and the letters from before, the letter P and R now appear on the page as well, though they can mean several things. Something tells me that Kojima has something more in store than just one single game announcement. But we’ll see soon enough.

By the way, the symbol on Big Boss’ beret is a cross between a skull and a map, with the term “Militaires sans Frontières” written on the top. Apparently, that translates into something along the lines of “Soldiers without Borders” or “Soldiers without Boundries” and I get the feeling it’s significant to the character of Big Boss.

UPDATE: P and R could possibly stand for Patriots and Raiden, which hints at a possible prequel (or interquel) featuring Raiden if that speculation is correct.
