Super Smash Bros. 64 Released on Wii Virtual Console

smash64

The day has arrived, my friends! Today, Nintendo has released the N64 classic, Super Smash Bros. 64 for the Wii Virtual Console. The game itself is a classic, having spawned two sequels for the GameCube and Wii itself. However, the old school game is always fun and, personally, Super Smash Bros. Brawl didn’t live up to the hype, at least for me.

If there’s one thing I love about the current era of gaming, it’s the ability for gaming companies to rerelease their games digitally. On the PS3/PSP side, Square Enix recently released Final Fantasy VII on the PlayStation Network, with talks of Konami releasing the original Metal Gear Solid. Both PSN and Xbox LIVE Arcade have Castlevania Symphony of the Night, along with many other classic games.

Some may like the amazing graphics (or, the Wii’s case, passable graphics) that the current generation of consoles is capable of, but I think the fact that they’re keeping the classics alive is what keeps my interest as a gamer.

[Update] Silly me. Apparently, the Friday release was for PAL regions. Sorry to our North American readers who got their hopes up. Looks like you’ll have to wait.

It hasn’t been released in the US yet. It was released for PAL. Nintendo doesn’t even release Virtual Console games on Friday. And don’t try to play it off as you were saying it was released “in general” or something since it came out in Japan in January.

Probably should have checked my sources a bit closer. I guess that’s what I guess for not being much of a Wii fan, otherwise I would’ve picked up on that.

  5. No need to be so harsh Mr.Correcto, lol.

Is this Europe or America? Because if this is Europe, that would ake sence, because I live in america, and I haven’t seen it.
