Apple UpdateThe latest iTunes update, 8.2.1, breaks Palm Pre syncing according to Pre Central. Apple specifically states that sycing of non-Apple devices with iTunes is neither supported or guaranteed. Other devices use an intermediary to sync with iTunes for media management but Palm built iPod spoofing into the Pre that let it mimick an iPod to sync with iTunes. It was unclear whether Apple would be annoyed enough about this to make a change to iPod identification in iTunes. This update obviously indicates that Apple is not having any of it and has found a way to disrupt Pre syncing without breaking iPod syncing or requiring and update to all iPods.

The next question is, will Palm create another work around? Will this turn into cat and mouse?
