One wheeled Segway?

OrbisImagine a Segway with only one wheel, that’s the premise behind the Orbis an Urban Mobility Vehicle concept which has recently gone up on the James Dyson Award site. The benefits of one wheel are of course abundantly clear, one wheel means more manoeuvrability and a reduced footprint. Other benefits include the ability to collapse the thing up for storage and reduced weight for easier carrying (on the tube or some such). There is of course at least one big downfall that I can see. What happens when you stop? Do you have to put a foot down? The concept indicates that it’s going to be self balancing but does that also include horizontal leaning? Still if it can be done, this thing could take over from the Brompton collapsible bike as the commuters fave off the train transport.
