Uncharted Territory

uncharted-2-among-thieves2Ars Technica’s recent interviews with Naughty Dog’s Christophe Balestra, there was discussion of the tie between single player and multi player game modes within their flagship Uncharted sequel.

Naughty Dog has decided to keep all game development, single AND multi-player modes, in house. This decision contrasts with Bioshock 2 and the recent Wolfenstein remake, whose multiplayer modes are cobbled on by 3rd party studios.

There is also mention of in-game cash used to buy add-ons for multiplayer. Players do not have to complete round about goals and checklists to unlock yet another rare-yet-pointless-triviality, effectively sidelining the typical “unlock heavy” systems that seem to be all the rage {sarcasim}.

The beta opens September 15th and is accessible from the PSN. We will see if their gambit pays off soon enough.
