Fanfiction Corner Vol. 3: Places to Go

Wed, Sep 2, 2009

aniblog-post-5Hello again fellow Fanfiction enthusiasts. For those who are into fanfiction, then you probably have a few sites you visit on a daily basis. Those more into fanfiction than others probably visit sites or blogs of your favorite authors, but for the general anime fan who wants to get see the world of fanfiction, you can’t go wrong with the three following sites:

Fanfiction.net – A great site to get started, and I speak from experience :). This site was where I originally started when I began writing fanfiction so many years ago. Also, for those of you who want to avoid adult-oriented lemon fanfiction altogether, this is a great site to check out because they don’t allow the posting of NC-17 anymore. They have quite a few series covered, but if you’re looking for an in-depth collection of one specific series, you may want to just search around. However, it is a great place to see a general collection ranging from anime to pop-culture stuff like Harry Potter, Twilight, and even some bands.

Mediaminer.org – This site has a lot of content, not just fanfiction. Actually, many fanfiction have fanart that go along with it, giving you the full experience. Unlike FF.net, MM.org does allow the posting of lemons, so if you’re into that kind of writing, then you have a good selection on there for many properties as well. Many of the lemon writers I knew from FF.net moved over to MM.org when they weren’t allowed to post stories on FF.net. Overall, its also a good site to check out the general fan fiction world. The organization is a bit different, but still easily accessible.

deviantart.com – DA isn’t just for fanart. There are quite a few writers on there, but I never posted on there myself. I didn’t find out that you could put stories on there until recently, after I haven’t written in a while. But if you a more author-oriented site, its a great place to start your FF writing and original writing career. Not to mention, like MM, you can also put your art up, accompanying your written work.

These three sites are great places to look and post. So next time you have a hankering for fanfiction of any type, visit any of these sites and you can’t go wrong.

Until next time, fellow writers and readers of fanfiction, keep reading and writing.
