News from the Tokyopop Insider Webinar

Mon, Sep 7, 2009

I had the chance to attend a Tokyopop Insider webinar last week. I didn’t know what to expect when I first got there and ended up really enjoying it.

TokyoPop Insider

During this live webinar they’ve announced several new releases… and I have to admit, some of them looked pretty damn good.

The first announcement that really caught my attention was about 3 new releases in the .hack franchise: .hack//Alcor, .hack//CELL and .hack//4Koma.

hack

I’ve known and loved .hack for it’s animes but never got a chance to play the video games. They were saying that those three new mangas were tied in to their story line. So if you’ve enjoyed the video games, you should definitely check those out!

.hack//Alcor will be the first one available on the market and its release is planned for December 2009.

Another announcement that got me excited was about the release of two new mangas in the Blizzard franchise: Warcraft: Death Knight and Starcraft: Ghost Academy.

warcraftdeathknight

Warcraft: Death Knight which will be released this December is going to be a really good read for World of Warcraft players out there.

It’s all about the story of a human NPC called Thassarian.  Some of you might have interacted with him in the World of Warcraft MMO!

While reading this manga, you’ll learn about Thassarian’s background as well as why and how he became a Death Knight!

starcraftghostacademy

The first volume of Starcraft: Ghost Academy is coming out in January 2010. It tells the story of Nova, a female terran ghost.

For those of you that never heard of Nova… she was going to be the protagonist of StarCraft: Ghost, a Blizzard game that got canceled back in 2005.

Blizzard didn’t forget about her though. She will be making an appearance in the highly anticipated Starcraft II video game.

If you’re interested in the Starcraft story line, don’t forget to order your copy!

CSIintern

The last announcement that caught my eye was the release of CSI: Intern at Your Own Risk.

The art looks very bloody and the story seems filled with suspense and action.

I’m a big CSI fan, so this manga seemed like lots of fun to me! For those interested, the manga came out this month!

Tokyopop announced the release of several other mangas during this webinar. If you are a manga fan and missed it, you should definitely watch its recording.
