Review: GameCom 377 from Plantronics

A few months ago I was shopping for a new headset. Since I use a headset for work, I wasn’t going to settle for any cheap one I could find on the market. I was looking for comfort, reliability, sturdiness and good sound quality without paying a fortune.

gamecom377After a few days of research, I found one that met all my needs; the GameCom 377 from Plantronics.

So what is all of the fuss about this headset?

First, its sound quality is great. It’s perfect for listening to music, watching movies, gaming, VOIP applications, and more. However, for audiophiles and sound professionals out there, you may want to look into purchasing a product made specifically for your trade if you are looking for impeccable sound quality.

The headset is a bit bulky, however it is incredibly comfortable. You can barely feel it on your head and its open-ear design allows you to remain aware of what’s going on around you. It also has in-line volume and mic-mute controls which can be useful from time to time. The down side is that it can get a bit warm after an hour or more of use because of the large earmuffs.

The microphone’s quality is very good and its noise cancelling feature works perfectly. If you are not using the microphone, it can be concealed. Therefore, you could easily use it as a set of regular headphones. The microphone is not flexible at all. It can only rotate to a certain extent which might bother some.

The headset is very durable. Extra-strength cables were used in its design. So we don’t have to worry about damaging the cables after rolling over them with our computer chairs once or twice. In the past, I used to replace my headset every 6 months. I’ve had this headset for over 4 months now and it looks as good as new! That’s amazing, right? ;)

Last, it retails at $59.95 on the Plantronics website, which I thought was quite reasonable considering its quality.

So, for all of you out there looking for a headset, check out the GameCom 377 from Plantronics!
