Are you ready to take a leap of Faith for Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood Collector’s Edition or will you hug the wall and play it safe ?
“All around the mulberry bush, the Assassin chases the Templar.” The collector’s edition comes with specially constructed Jack-in- the Box that varies dependant on the retailer. The Jack-in-the-Box is either a doctor (available from Amazon) or a Harlequin (retailing at GameStop). Rest assured that both are equally terrifying.

Upon first impression, there is far more content packed in the Collector’s Edition of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood than its standard retail cousin. It includes a map of Rome with a poster signed on the opposing side by the development team. Also included is a themed key for the Jack-in-the-Box corresponding to the head Jack-in-the-Box packed in your edition. There are two in-game levels for the single player campaign as well as an exclusive in-game character for multiplayer.
The DVD contains a five-minute behind-the-scenes look at the game, the official soundtrack, trailers and digital content covering the upcoming comic run. The behind-the-scenes section is brief, and frankly leaves you wanting more.
Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood Collector’s Edition is packaged in a large black box sleeved with graphics depicting important characters, and upon opening said box the first thing you see is the key and the Jack-in-the-Box underneath it. The game itself is tucked away in a small compartment which also includes the map and poster. In addition, there is an art book with early concept art and alternative costumes.
The detailing of the Jack-in-the-Box are influenced by the Italian Renaissance and possesses the Brotherhood of Assassin’s logo on every side of the box, quite artistically printed. I have only had it successfully pop out once without getting caught. At one point I thought it was going to break when I was turning the key. It’s a great idea, but more of a display piece than a functional toy. The Jack-in-the-Box itself is adorned with ornate Assassin’s Creed logos. That said, the puppet itself is quite a high-quality piece.
My overall impression is that while the Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood Special Edition comes with some nice additional features, and my favorite of those are in-game, the collector’s edition is only a must if you are already a diehard fan of the franchise.
