Top 5 Games for When You Are Done with Black Ops

Call of Duty:Black Ops is out, and gamers will begin their hibernation period as they endlessly pwnn noobs and destroy the zombie horde. I even wrote an article about it. If, however, you grow dissatisfied with your Call of Duty experience, there is no need to fear. Many great games are still due out relatively soon. So here are my Top 5 Games for when you are done with Black Ops.

5) Crysis 2

The first Crysis is still held up as an example of how beautiful the current generation’s graphics can be. Its writing, however, is held up as an example of how bad a cool concept can get. The developers are looking to really bring the story to the forefront and even made some waves earlier in the year as their head writer, science fiction writer (find name), called out games that he thought had terrible writing in them, which according to him was most of the industry (Uncharted 2 he liked though. Had to put that in there). If they can keep the writing within spitting distance of what they accomplished graphics-wise last time, then we will have a special game on our hands.

4) Assassins Creed Brotherhood

Assassins Creed 2 was a huge leap forward from its predecessor, and gamers can only hope Ubisoft continues the trend with Assassins Creed Brotherhood. Featuring Ezio once again, players will follow the Italian Stallion as he starts his own society of assassins. So be ready for a lot of super-secret discussions about super-secret things that can only be done by super-secretive people. Boasting a new multiplayer mode, this looks like a game that could keep you busy for a while.

3) Dead Space 2

The first Dead Space was a very welcome surprise to many gamers. It was genuinely scary and extremely well designed. The second Dead Space looks to add to the formula and build on its already very solid foundation. They have also added some multi-player, and it looks as if it is going to be a really good addition to the game. Let’s just cross our fingers that it doesn’t take their focus away from the single player campaign. I look forward to lopping some limbs off in this really soon.

2) Dragon Age 2

The first Dragon Age brought old school elements back to the western RPG and proved to be a huge success. What else was to be expected with the amazing Bioware team behind the wheel? As much as I enjoyed Dragon Age, and I really really enjoyed it, I felt it was lacking the personalization that Mass Effect has brought to the genre. Bioware seems to feel the same way and has added a voice to your character as well as a Mass Effect-style dialogue wheel to the game. I can’t wait to jump back into that world.

1) Little Big Planet 2

Little Big Planet 2 is going to be the most fun you have all year. I have no doubt in my mind that you will be able to share it with more friends, and enjoy it with more people, than any other game that is coming out next year. The customization looks like it has been revamped to be even more impressive, and Beta footage has already surfaced of amazing new user-created levels, including a remake of Limbo. Little Big Planet 2 is going to hook you. Trust me.
