The VGA’s have come and gone, accompanied by the usual cries of “lame” from millions of gamers who get their hopes up every year. However, I can’t argue with Red Dead Redemption winning multiple awards. The game had everything you could ask for, fully embracing the challange of bringing the wild west to video gamers in a way that had never been aproached before. But they didn’t stop there. Rockstar then came out with a DLC pack that is longer than The Force Unleashed 2. I’m talking about Undead Nightmare, and here are my Top 5 Reasons You Should Be Playing It.
5)New Cutscenes
Red Dead Redemption had one of the most engrossing story-lines to be found in any video game. From the topnotch voice acting to the very impressive facial animation the story came to life as you played it. Rockstar didn’t just phone it in to set up the story for Undead Nightmare. They clearly revel in the ability to toy with “B-movie” tropes while still keeping the impressive vibe of their western world. The new scenes have a dark humor and are truly as well done as the full games cut scenes were. 4)New Missions
New DLC means new missions and Undead Nightmare has oodles of them. The new setting allows for more experimental missions that place all kinds of weird things in the familiar wild west setting. One early mission that stands out involves a certain hairy monster with large feet. Sounds fun right? It is.
3)New Weapons
The new weapons to be found in Undead Nightmare offer up a whole new way to blaze a path through the west. Some of the weapons have already been seen in previous DLC, such as the tomahawk, and they are still just as fun to play with. But the DLC does have its own brand new weapons for you to play with as well. The Blunderbuss allows you to allows you to use dead zombie parts as ammo. Yup.
2)Undead Animals
Killing cougars and bears is a lot of fun in Red Dead Redemption. Without taxing their engine to make realistic traffic patterns Rockstar games was able to use the engine to create some of the most realistic wildlife ever seen in gaming. But you know what makes hunting more fun? When the animals are undead. Undead bears? That’s not even fair.
1)It’s Zombies and Cowboys
This is a game where you are a cowboy shooting zombies. If you want to know why to play it then just read the previous sentence until you understand.
