[CES 2011] Warpia StreamHD hits market

Within the first day of CES, Warpia president Mike Walsh had already received an order for a thousand of Warpia’s brand-new StreamHD SWP120A PC-to-TV wireless units to fulfill corporate demand.

Debuting on the market the same day, the SWP120A delivers high-definition sound and picture (1080P) wirelessly from a laptop or PC to an HD television or projector with a maximum resolution of 1920×1080/1600×1200 and 48kHZ 16-bit Stereo or surround sound audio. The device has a range of 30 feet in the same room and features VGA and HDMI connectors. It is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, and XP Service Pack 3.

Also on display was Warpia’s Easy Dock Pro, a wireless laptop docking station designed for PC and Mac. Like the SWP120A, the Easy Dock Pro streams audio, visual, and input data to external devices like monitors, keyboards, mice, and speakers, connected to the docking base by a DVI connector (VGA adapter included), 3.5mm Stereo audio jack, and 2 USB connectors. It has similar picture quality to the SWP120A, and 48 kHz, 16-bit stereo audio quality.

The Easy Dock Pro is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, and XP Service Pack 3, and Mac OS Leopard (10.5) and Snow Leopard (10.6).

Trauben’s Impressions

The StreamHD might be useful to a consumer who wants to put on a show from their laptop on a large-screen TV or run a presentation, but it’ll undoubtedly find a rich niche in the corporate market. My opinions on the Easy Dock Pro are similar — it’s a great choice for a consumer who only owns a laptop but wants to take advantage of desktop monitors, speakers, and input devices, but it’s far more lucrative to larger suppliers like corporate offices.

Huneycutt’s Impressions

Ultimately, I will never be personally excited about this product from a more than intellectual angle, but its easily one of the more important technologies we’ve seen this year. There are so many possible applications for this tech that I really just can’t detail them. It’s an inexpensive solution to wireless streaming, and its so reliable and simple to use that its almost faultless. I’ve likely spent a good 4-5 hours switching cabling options in the past year, and I would love a solid solution to that issue, and this product promises to give just that. I’m very much looking forward to examining this product in more detail.
