Spare Change: Little Big Planet 2 Collectors Edition

As Sackboy makes his triumphant return to Playstation 3, this time he has brought goodies for the fans. Is this sequel Collector’s edition bursting with the right stuff or is it just fluff?

This isn’t the box you are buying to display on your shelf:  like a gift, you are buying it for what is inside. The Collector’s Edition comes with book ends and a Sackboy plush toy. The bookends are industrial strength cardboard and reflect Larry Da Vinci (surrounded by Sackbots) and Sackboy with his arcade on each end. They look flimsy, but are actually quite sturdy. They aptly reflect the game’s motif. They are great for showing off your Playstation 3 collection, or in my case, my Scott Pilgrim books.

The plushie Sackboy looks different than the picture, but he is still one of the cutest mascots out there. The toy is available to purchase separately, about $20.

The DLC includes eleven Sackboy costumes as well as two exclusive Sackboy costumes and five exclusive PSN avatars. You can only get the Jax and Daxter costumes with the Collector’s Edition, the others you could buy separately. My personal favorite of the costumes is Clu, from Tron Legacy.

The Collector’s Edition is $20 more than the standard edition. If you are a real fan, you will enjoy the bookends and plushie. It is a good bargain, just for the DLC, which most people would buy anyway.
