Blizzard Theme Park Under Construction

Earlier this month, French gaming website GameBlog.fr reported that a Blizzard theme park would be built in Wunjin district, China. Called Joyland, the park was supposedly themed around Blizzard’s two most popular games: World of Warcraft and StarCraft. But, thinking it was too good to be true, many discounted this report as nothing more than a rumor.

Until now. A Chinese news report containing photos of Joyland’s construction has recently surfaced.

The park will be divided up into five themed sections, as shown on its website (unfortunately entirely in Chinese). The news report is also regrettably Chinese-only, but the folks over at The Huffington Post apparently found a reliable translator.

Joyland was originally slated to open in March of this year, which seems highly unlikely since the park is just now being reported on. Like so many other Blizzard projects, it does not yet appear to have an official release date – which is alright, really. Blizzard fans have learned to be patient after waiting years for games like Diablo III. And who knows, maybe Joyland will even design a Diablo themed section by the time the park is open.
