There’s No Escaping the Greatness of this Live-Action Portal Movie

If anyone is as big of a Portal fan as I am, then a live-action Portal movie has been something we’ve thought about for a while.  I’ve never been entirely sure how a game centered on puzzles and problem solving could really translate to film, but what I just watched has proven Portal can be even more epic in live-action form.

Entitled “Portal: No Escape”, Director Dan Trachtenberg began piecing together this absolutely amazing seven minute movie about a year and a half ago — before Portal 2 was released.  It features Danielle Rayne as our female protagonist — who I am assuming is Chell — and we watch as she begins her journey trapped in a cell, her eventual discovery of the Handheld Portal Device and her attempt at escape.

While a seven minute long video might not seem like very much time, it is a wonderful masterpiece.  The music, setting, special effects and lack of spoken word mimic Portal in a way that respects what fans already know but still takes it a few steps further.  The only thing missing was GLaDOS’s quips and sarcasm.
