October could easily be considered the month where the bat reigns over all other creatures. With Halloween only weeks away, the time is right for the greatest bat of all time to come; that’s exactly what’s happening next week as the Batman himself comes with a POW! and a SMACK! to bat-fans everywhere. On October 18, the highly anticipated Batman: Arkham City hits video game shelves across the country, but that’s not enough for the Dark Knight. DC Animation will also be releasing its newest animated movie, Batman: Year One.
Based on the renowned and celebrated book of the same name by creative team including Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli, Batman: Year One is a dark re-telling of billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne’s first year as the caped crusader. With an A-List cast including Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Ben McKenzie (Southland), Eliza Dushku (Dollhouse), Katee Sackoff (Battlestar Galactica) and directed by Sam Liu (Batman/Superman: Public Enemies), DC Animation is looking to land another direct-to-video hit.
Comic Issues spoke to some of the cast and crew at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con about the upcoming movie release and some of what we might be able to expect from Batman: Year One.
