E3 2012 – Microsoft Press Conference 2012

Hi Guys! Welcome to PG’s Microsoft Press Conference Impressions!

We’ll be doing live commentary and a quick recap video. Check it out right here starting at 12:30PM EST.

For those of you that still read, the Microsoft E3 Press Briefing Highlights:

1. Halo 4 Looks Awesome.

2. Gears of War: Judgement – Gears with 75% more Baird. Yep, that’s a plus.

3. Splinter Cell: Blacklist – Sam Fisher is back. We thought he was angry before. We were wrong.

4. Tomb Raider is going to make you awesomely uncomfortable.

5. Microsoft Smartglass is as interesting as it sounds. As in, not very.

6. The number of people that care about the Fable Rail-Shooter: Still 0.

7. Microsoft/Nike Cross-Promotion: I watched ten minutes of video and STILL don’t know what they meant.

8. ESPN’s Awesome Xbox App gets WAY better. People that don’t care about sports are excited about this. Well, not really, but almost.

9. Call of Duty: Black Ops II is definitely a Call of Duty. Explosions, overly-grizzled voice-acting, and out-of-date particle physics EVERYWHERE. If Michael Bay’s name isn’t in the credits somewhere, then its simply an omission.

10. Microsoft’s Press Conference rolled in with a bang, and gradually lost all momentum. The games shown were excellent, the cross-functionality completely satisfactory, Usher was mind-blowingly unnecessary, and then the conference just . . . ended.

Grade: B- for lack of originality and momentum. No major announcements.
