Released

This week on Released: Male strippers invade your home, Disney fairies have adventures, some beloved Marvel series come to a close to make way for Marvel NOW, and Silent Hill creeps onto the big screen once again with a terrifying sequel.

The focus of Released is typically geeky stuff, but this week the aim is shifting towards something far off course for the sake of the ladies. Gentlemen, while you’re scrolling through this week’s list of new releases, wiping away whatever fluids are brought out by the names you may see, keep the ladies in mind. All of this buildup leads us to Magic Mike, the Channing Tatum male stripper movie. There isn’t much else that can be said about this, nor does there need to be. Ladies, you know what’s up. Men, just keep on scrolling unless that’s your sort of thing. (Then by all means, order it in Blu-ray and have a blast.)

While Mom is throwing her wallet at the TV in the other room, Disney comes to entertain the little ones with some age-appropriate adventure with Tinkerbell staring in Secret of the Wings, the newest addition to the Disney Fairies series.

This week marks the end of the Daniel Way run of Deadpool, which began back in 2008. Way’s run featured the Merc with a Mouth doing everything from fighting zombies to banging giant redneck alien “women”. As sad as it is to see such a fantastic series come to a close, it is important to keep hope in mind: this is not the end. Next month, Marvel will bring back this series, along with Captain America and a few other heroes and teams, as a part of the Marvel reboot “Marvel NOW”. So go out and grab the final issue of Cap or ‘Pool, but don’t cry too much (it’ll ruin the value)! More adventures are on their way.

Halloween is still a week away, so how about you use this weekend to go on a little trip to Silent Hill? Starting Friday, October 26th Silent Hill: Revelation comes to a theater near you to do freaky stuff with mannequins and hopefully show us how to turn a horror game into a movie the right way (Hey, everybody! Look over at Resident Evil and shake your head in disappointment.)

Last and certainly not least, Playstation releases the Killzone trilogy on Playstation 3. I know, I know, “but the second two are already available!”, well now, so is the first! Originally made for the Playstation 2, Killzone is now available in high definition in a collection set with all three games. Fight against the Helghast (space Nazis) as they invade your home planet in the first game, then take the fight to their world and bring down their government like a boss in the second two. These games feature incredible environments, breathtaking cut scenes, and brutal arsenals of weapons sure to show your enemies who’s their Daddy.
