The Dark Knight Returns Pt. 2 – Teaser & More

DC Animation has released the trailer to the second and final installment of The Dark Knight Returns, and just as we expected, things are getting explosive!

Luckily for us, that’s not all that’s happening at DC Premiere.  Released on the same day was the trailer to LEGO Batman: The Movie – DC Superheroes Unite, a movie adaptation of the hugely popular LEGO Batman 2 game.  The combination of the two trailers have got Bat-Fans young and old as well as young at heart all excited for something.

You’d think that would be good enough, but it must be Christmas because DC Premiere also announced other animated films planned for release this year.

But first, how about that Dark Knight Returns Pt. 2 tease…

Now time for your early Christmas present:

Scheduled for a 2013 January/February release of course is DKR part 2.  Following that in mid-2013 will be Superman: Unbound, based on the Geoff Johns “Superman/Brainiac” storyline.

Official description: Before he came to Earth, the people of Superman’s homes planet Krypton had battled Brainiac, a cold and callous alien obsessed with the control of knowledge.  Now Brainiac has set his sights on destroying Earth and finishing off the Last Son of Krypton once and for all. This epic battle will change Superman’s world forever.

And around this time next year we’ll see Justice League: Flashpoint, another story from the mind of Geoff Johns.

Wiki description: The series details an altered DC Universe in which only Barry Allen, Kid Flash and Booster Gold seem to be aware of significant differences between the regular timeline and the altered one, including Cyborg‘s place as the quintessential hero, Superman‘s apparent detention by the government and a Thomas Wayne version of Batman who spends “his days running Wayne Casinos.”

Could this mean the end of the old continuity stories of the DC animated series?  The world would be a little less brighter if it did.
