The first trailer for Star Trek into Darkness is here, and we at Pixelated Geek have a few things to say. Join us as we discuss what J.J. Abrams brings to the table.Featured below is the Star Trek into Darkness edition of Trailer Park, our short show dedicated to those first thoughts when seeing a trailer. Also featured is the Japanese trailer without our commentary. We decided to riff over the Japanese cut because it has some bonus footage to make you want to live long and prosper all over the place.
This trailer packs a lot more explosions and distressed faces than any trailer for the first movie, which leads us to believe Star Trek into Darkness is going to be “the dark one” or “the Empire” of however many of these Star Trek films will be made. It’s clear that director J.J. Abrams is trying to out-do his previous work. Nothing says “epic sequel” quite like a volcano, am I right?
