Subtitled Trailer Released for Miyazaki’s The Wind Rises

The Wall Street Journal has released an English subtitled clip of the Japanese trailer for Hayao Miyazaki’s 11th and final film, The Wind Rises.  In his final film, Miyazaki tells the story of Jiro Horikoshi, the man who designed Japan’s fighter planes during World War II.

Although the subtitled clip is short, it seems this film will not disappoint.  Miyazaki has tackled a range of social issues, and based on the trailer, I think he will skillfully master this depiction of Japan’s path from the 1920s into the Second World War.

Disney has hired a strong dubbing cast for The Wind Rises. Miyazaki’s final film has already garnered a number of award nominations, including a Golden Globe nomination for “Best Foreign Film.”

What do you think about Miyazaki’s final film?  Do you plan to see it in theaters upon release?
