Top Literary Love Lists: The Best, The Worst and The Most Eligible Bachlors

It’s Valentine’s Day! A night to hit the singles bar, snuggle up with ice cream and a movie and cry yourself to sleep, or call desperately for any available babysitter who is not going to double their price just because they can (I’m looking at you Tiffany!) Well, regardless of how you spend your Valentine’s Day, we might as well take a look at some great love top ten lists for literature:

Top Ten Best Couples in Literature

Now I had a really hard time putting these in a count down from ten to one. I definately knew #10 and #1, but all the middle I just couldn’t decide! So I put 9-2 in no particular order. If you have any ideas for the way you would put the list in please comment below, I love to see reader input!

10.) Romeo and Juliet (from, uh, Romeo and Juliet)

Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark (Sorry if your on team Gale, The Hunger Gamers Trilogy, )

Faramir and Lady Éowyn (You know you absolutely loved it when they hooked up at the end! The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King)

Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy (couldn’t not include them, Pride and Prejudice)

Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley (I’m sorry but in light of current news, no freaking way are Harry and Hermione at all compatible! Harry Potter)

Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley (These two on the other hand, definitely! Harry Potter)

Augustus Waters and Hazel Grace Lancaster ( I just *sobbing*…I’m sorry*sniffling*…I just can’t *collapses into a fit of a crying mess* TheFault in Our Stars)Aragorn and Arwen (’nuff said, LOTR Trilogy)

1.) Buttercup and Westley (“Since the invention of the kiss, there have only been five kisses that were rated the most passionate, the most pure. This one left them all behind” The Princess Bride)

Worst Couples in All of Literature

(only 5 for this list and again, in no particular order)

Edward Rochester and Bertha Mason (I personally think that Rochester is a dick, Jane Eyre)

Edward Cullen and Bella Swan (I am really not into book bashing, it’s just not something I believe in, but if you think about the actual couple I don’t believe that they were originally compatible Twilight)

Jamie and Cersei Lannister (ew! ew! ew! ew! ew! A Song of Ice and Fire Series also known as Game of Throne series)Christine and Eric (Eric is a psychopath who kidnaps Christine and forces her to marry him, how is this a love story? Phantom of the Opera)

Romeo and Juliet (Yes they were also on the best couples because the romance between them is literary history, but let’s face it, they hooked up in only three days… Romero and Juliet)

Eligible Bachelors

(again in no particular order:)

Lestat (Now I have only read Interview with the Vampire, but that is enough to know that he is probably on the look out for another partner Interview With the Vampire)

Louis (I believe that the same goes here Interview With the Vampire)

Atticus Finch (It’s hard to picture him as an eligible bachelor but he’s a single family man, who’s also a lawyer, some woman would totally hit that, To Kill A Mockingbird)

Tyrion Lanister (I would totally hit that whether it’s Peter Dinklage or the character Tyrion, oh shut up! You know you would too! A Song of Ice and Fire Series also known as Game of Throne series)

Jon Snow (two bachelors from GoT, nice! I would hit this too, so long as he lives…only time will tell GR.R.M, A Song of Ice and Fire Series also known as Game of Throne series)

Atticus O’Sullivan (I would think that a power wielding, 2,000 year old ginger who carries a big, hmmuhmm, sword around has got to be a hot commodity! The Iron Druid Chronicles)

So there you have it! Please feel free to leave me comments below, and have a very Happy Valentines Day!!!!!!
