2K and Firaxis Games have announced that a new Sid Meier’s Civilization game is scheduled for release this fall.
Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth will focus on players creating a human culture that will attempt to thrive on a new alien planet. On this planet, they will be forced to adapt to brand new environment and resources. Included will be a revamped, non-linear technology tree and also an “Orbital Layer” of gameplay — allowing players to focus on scientific, military or economic development from the orbit of the planet. There will also be “deeper customization of chosen factions”, according to the press release.

The game is set for an upcoming fall release on PC, Mac and Linux in North America for $49.99.
