DCU: Batman and Harley Quinn (Not the Animated Series)

Have you ever had one of the moments that really illustrates that you are getting older? For me it’s been these little celebrations of some of pop culture’s best series. Specifically with the 25th Anniversary of Batman the Animated Series. Like most of my generation, Batman was a staple for me, and what really made Batman the Animated series stand out was its attention to story. Sadly though, we may have to wait a little longer for the the full series to get its much deserved HD Remaster. Luckily the latest animated film from DC Animation is out: DCU Batman and Harley Quinn.

While the artwork is clearly based on the animated series, but did you notice that the title doesn’t reflect the original naming convention? For any Geek Parents out there that should be a decent warning. This movie is soooo not for kids. What you are about to experience is a journey into a very sexualized version of Batman the Animated Series.

Return to Arkham – How well does it age?

Return to Arkham – How well does it age?

I purchased the Xbox One with the dream that the Batman Arkham series would be backwards compatible; getting a remastered version of both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City was taking that dream and adding frosting, with bacon. Safe to say I was more than a little excited to revisit the series – though there was a nagging doubt that perhaps the game didn’t age well. Well, I put on my utility belt and grapple hooked my way into Arkham. I was more than surprised what I found.

Review: Shin Godzilla / Godzilla Resurgence

It would seem that I’m the target market for Godzilla films. I love old school Sentai (Power Rangers), Kamen Rider and Big Robo Anime. While I’ve tried various films, I’ve just never really been into Godzilla (or Godzooki,) though I’m familiar with the character and his adversaries.

Then I started to hear the rumblings all over the internet – there was a new Godzilla movie. More importantly, it was apparently amazing. With the aftertaste from the most recent American Gozilla movie with Bryan Cranston, and with a skepticism akin to just seeing the 90s Godzilla movie, I sat down for a trailer.

With the first screen I was instantly sold – Directed by: Hideki Anno. SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!

DC Rebirth Oct 5th – Phantom Ring, Cybernetic show down, Monster Nightwing and more

DC Rebirth continues to delight as issue 8 makes its grand debut in the art of action. Seems like all of our characters are battling it out: Cyborg fighting Killgore, the Justice League fighting fear itself, all while Gotham is being overrun by monsters. Even our earthbound Green Lanterns have to protect the Phantom Ring from the Dominators.

Review: Worms WMD – Xbox One

Before the popularity of online gaming the term multiplayer had a different meaning. Well okay, it meant the same thing literally, but there was something special about having a friend over in the real world and playing a game together. There are a handful of games that do this, but Worms took it to a whole other level.

After countless iterations of Worms, Team 17 has returned to the realm of 2D and frankly it’s good to be back. How does this game hold up in the franchise? Is it another sit-on-the-couch multiplayer?

DC Rebirth – Sept 21st: Sad Cyborg, GL makes Cookies, Monsters in Gotham and guess who’s coming to dinner?

DC Rebirth continues its onslaught of the comic book industry: the August 2016 numbers had DC taking nine out of the top 10 best selling comics. It’s great news for DC Fans, though I’m very interested to see how Marvel responds.

There is a lot going on in the DC Universe this week as Gotham has a monster of a problem, Cyborg is doing a diagnostic on his soul, and Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz have a baking challenge. Oh and the Trinity get together for some dinner.

DC Rebirth – Sept 14th: Godspeed’s Identity, Naked Guy Gardner and Not so Superman

This week’s books continue to surprise; it feels like the Green Lantern series is back, though under a different name. The book that actually takes place in space is called Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps. Then there are books that I normally would’ve never picked up and find myself more than enjoying.

This week we are faced with the aftermath of Godspeed’s attack on Star Labs, Sinestro continuing his whole “feed the Fear Machine” plan, and to top it off who the heck is this Clark Kent? (The non super powered version.) There’s plenty more where that came from, plus my top picks.

DC Rebirth: Sept 7th – Super Cyborgs, Superman’s Best Friend, Secret Identities Revealed and more

I’m actually surprised by now that a Blue Lantern Ring hasn’t found me, as each week I sit down to read the DC Rebirth and I HOPE. Specifically, I hope it continues to be awesome – and so far each week I’ve been surprised that it is. What I’ve been enjoying the most is reading books that normally wouldn’t be on my Pull List.

This week is no different as we see characters return, identities revealed, and deep questions arise about our heroes.
