I’m really tired of those goddamn lists that you have to read like they’ll say something important- but they wont. so i made my own. its probably still under construction but here is a general list-

25 things about the Anti FB list List

1. whoever started these list things on facebook has officially done the nerdiest thing ever for several reasons.
2. one of those reasons- internet peoplez, esp nerds(those guys your going to be working for in 2 years) love lists- be they linked, binary tree, or in a cold and frigid array.
3. two- people that post these things about themselves apparently believe that other people care what they have to say- best Rick-roll ever
4. three- they’ve fed the idea that everyone on FB likes to troll through lists like its fmylife.com
5. now that that list within a list is done- we can get down to business
6. High school is for bitches- going back anywhere sucks
7. saying redundant and boring things is like taking a picture where everyone stands and smiles- NO ONE CARES
8. if you’re going to make a list make it funny, interesting, or a seriously awesome fml moment
9. please don’t say your likes and dislikes unless this is a list to your boyfriend so he knows what to get you for valentines day- which leads to number 10
10. valentines day sucks- just so everyone knows- but for everyone whos not single- see my other rant for more info
11. what you and your family do to you is your business- so pretty much everyone else probably doesn’t care- just so you know
12. saying what you are glad for is cool- not going to lie- thankfulness is never bad
13. in addition to that- places you’ve been, things you’ve done- unless they are out of the country or can make it to the front page of digg- should be scrutinized religiously
14. saying what you love, is also acceptable- but don’t front like you’ve been there forever and a day- chargers and lakers fans know exactly what I mean
15. favorite foods, and places- again, unless awkward, shouldn’t be mentioned. Come on, you’re competing on the place where the phrase “two girls, 1 cup” means far more than sharing a drink- keep that in mind
16. views- religious, political, and otherwise should be kept in context- hating is never a bad thing when its polite and funny and always involves a positive view of Obama
17. being discreet, sneaky, and otherwise general and broad in a comment is played out
18. back on 17- either tell us exactly what happened or don’t mention it- you wanna be mysterious lothario
19. saying one secret in a list means it isn’t really a secret
20. secrets, just so everyone knows, are stuff you can only tell your BFF (that is, if you have a BFF, and if so- how is middle school?)

22. or fmylife.com if theyre really funny
23. btw- people that use the series of periods not to create a pause but to separate a sentence… need to get shot

I’m at work. It’s Valentine’s Day- and I’m at work. It’s 02-14-2009 and everyone with girlfriends and boyfriends and people who want to be more than just friends are with their significant other. And I’m alone- at work. Hold on for just one second. Let’s do this from earlier in the week.

It’s the Friday before Valentine’s Day and Target is getting raided like the Bong-smoking Michael Phelps doll just came out. I’m here with my friend who is on a mission to buy a gift to ensure that when he spins his Ipod wheel to John Legend tomorrow he gets the green light from his girlfriend. Hold on again, let’s do this from earlier that day.

Hung over and late to lab as usual, I dread the idea that Valentine’s Day is tomorrow. Seeing people with love in their hearts and no room in their boxer shorts gives me a mental shot to the grapes. I’ve been single for a while now, and its generally on the plus side- no checking in, no worrying about cheating, and trying out all of Barney Stinson’s antics in a very promising How I Met Your Mother-esque bar is surprisingly enjoyable (that’s enjoyable btw, not effective.) But Valentine’s Day is another reminder that more than likely I’ll wake up with a hang over instead of a bad decision looming over my groggy head. First thing that comes to mind:

F*ck Valentine’s Day.

Ok, now back to Target. Just entering the automatic doors and seeing people fly in and out like Harry Potter owls on a mission for the quest of sex gives me the impression we’re not in Kansas anymore. Two steps in and I can already see lines that make the DMV look like Disneyland. Brushing past perturbed husbands and horny boyfriends, we search for a cute triceratops plate through the aisles of Chefmate Waffle Irons and one-dollar St. Patrick’s Day vomit bowls you wear on your head. No Triceratops plates. As the minutes tick by we, by “we” I mean “he” by the way, go over the utter disdain he has for Valentine’s Day, and how forced flowers for forced affection for something even more forced later on that night is what he and every other of his non-single friends await the following Saturday.

It doesn’t help that its all-star weekend. I’m sure it also doesn’t help how I dropped in our earlier conversation that during a dinner (although mixed signals that i may or may not be imagining make it seem date-like, but more on that as it develops) the previous night with a very cute friend of mine, we discovered a place that not only serves amazing wings but 9$ pitchers of New Castle in front of 40 inch TV screens. And I’m more than willing to bet that the fact that all of his roommates are throwing a party Valentine’s Day night for all of the singles in the area, and made it a point to not invite the couples( i.e. him) does not remedy the situation one little bit.

He goes on to tell me that he loves his girlfriend. Heart and Soul. But Valentine’s Day makes him want to punch a baby. One day, he wishes, for a day about men eating wings and drinking beer and watching the all-star weekend- a day where he doesn’t have to force his feelings out because somebody with a suit and a card told him to. A day where he doesn’t have to spend his entire Friday before scavenging through the local Target for exasperating albeit ridiculously cute plates so he can find himself the next day calmly saying “boom goes the dynamite” as the day, and he, finishes. That’s the world he’d someday like to live in. As he finishes saying the word “in” we stumble upon them. Green, horned, smiling triceratops plates with a Sippy cup and matching utensils. After waiting in the Great Depression of 2009 food line to purchase the gifts, we end up outside in darkness. He finishes that particular conversation with a sigh and three words:

F*ck Valentine’s Day.

Which brings us back to today. I’m at work. It’s Valentine’s Day, and I’m at work. It’s Valentine’s Day, I’m at work, and I’m about to get off, and find myself at a party where all of the cute, drunk, and horny girls of the day find themselves taking a shot with me as I tell them about how we spent the entire day before searching for the cutest triceratops plates that my friend got for his girlfriend and how its awesome to be single.

F*ck me, it’s Valentine’s Day ^_^.

Rappers have come to dominate the music scene of our generation faster than a jones-ing  Amy Winehouse  finding a Jack Black-size pile of jelly beans. And I’ll be the first to admit that listening to Ludacris’ “One More Drink” was more than just a list of things not to do while drunk off of $3 coronas at the local Sevilla. But what I and the other music-loving, guitar-playing, and crazy about Blink-182 returning individuals are concerned with is the zealous abuse of the Auto-tune by everyone who now thinks they’re cooler than Stevie Wonder playing the drums. (thats right, youtube it.)

Singing is freakin hard. Plain and simple. According to Wiki and the singing teacher I had for half of a vocal class last quarter, “Singing is the act of producing musical sounds with the voice, which is often contrasted with regular speech.” Anyone who has listened to Stevie Wonder, Michael Buble, donny Hathaway, and even Clay Aiken has somewhat of an idea of how singing should sound. And anyone who has found themselves drunk with a microphone is well aware of how difficult it is to correctly belt out “Dont Stop Believing” at 3 am in the local Filipino friend’s house. When was the last time you were amazed your 10 year old cousin knew all of the words to Biggie’s “Hypnotize”?

This is not to say that Rap is not an art form. Reading the lyrics of any of Kanye’s songs instills within anyone visions of a Chicago based Shakespearian family war. At a club, I can’t find myself yearning to listen to anyone but Luda and his especially consistent and amazingly accurate rapping about intoxication and the idea that he is well aware of what the opposite sex wants. And everyone reading this knows that at some point in their college life there is a blackout story they don’t remember but is apparently set to the soundtrack from “American Gangster.”

But Lil Wayne isn’t Wayne Newton. Having diamonds in your cup is not a reason to think you’re Neil Diamond. Guys like Nas, Lupe Fiasco  and Lil Weezy  latching onto an Auto-Tune is like the Dude from the big Lebowski using bumpers and not drinking a white Russian. It’s a not a crime against art like how every hot girl with a camera thinks they are a photographer is a crime against art. It’s just such an awkward juxtaposition- like watching Dynamic Edition from America’s Best Dance Crew try to break-dance. There are the lucky few that are skilled in everything from singing to rap, to God knows what else (you heard me Jason Mraz), but that doesn’t mean that everyone else has to try to bridge the gap from Chicago projects to a project for the band Chicago. Men and women who pride themselves on keeping it real should know better. Keep it real. We know you cats can. Dueces.

Over here at pixelatedgeek we have an unofficial set of rules- our guidelines or eight fold path if you will, that have a fight club-like effect on the members of our dear little site- Rule 1. Get Money and Get Paid our second and our final rule- GET MONEY AND GET PAID. So you can imagine my dismay when I arrived at CBS.com to watch How I Met your Mother, expecting a Red Rider Bee bee gun only to find a child size bunny suit for Christmas. If twitter and Digg aren’t your normal sources of information, CBS.com does not host their shows on their website. CBS’s blatant disregard for rules 1 and effectively 2 leads to the conclusion that CBS.com is not a place for the internet community and ultimately to the idea that CBS.com sucks.

The internet, if you haven’t figured out from the barrage of ads screaming out at you about winning a free Nintendo Wii, is here for two reasons, Pornography (our 2nd most sacred and prized possession) and Money (our first most prized possession). So when I came upon CBS.com handing out tid bits of fantastic shows like priests handing out excerpts of the bible to the Ned Flanders of the world, shock and awe there the only words that come to mind. Not only did they not fuel their obvious need for capital to payoff their rediculous bill for an awkward an unattractive Katie Couric, but they committed some other very deadly sin. They abandoned their entire loyal and ad-watching community to fend for themselves, torrenting and streaming their shakes away for that How I Met Your Mother fix. First, I am well aware that piracy is always problem. There are tons of lazy and bored college and high school kids that have no moral regard for leaving their family computer on in weekly intervals to get all of the episodes Gossip Girl and Private Practice (or Lost and Heroes if you have two testicles and a penis). In addition to that, there is an equally large  if not greater sum of perez hilton fans who would just as easily place Megavideo next to Perezhilton.com in their bookmark page. But this is not a deterrent in the least to not host their episodes. If anything, it is the most definite and envigorating set of evidence to host their own website full of episodes of the Big Bang Theory. The Piracy, aside from the paltry consequences the DRM loving bleeding hearts, provides two large setbacks: quality and time. The amount of time and energy used to torrent 4 seasons of How I Met Your Mother would easily be a deciding to factor to your local 17 year old best buy employee and lead him to the “middle way” of CBS buddhism.  and then you ask “But what about the other places that stream it for free? and bandwidth has become so ample and cheap in the last few years?” this is easily solved by the 2nd point : quality. Most streaming sites dont have the money or resources to host an HD quality episode let alone 8 seasons of Will Grace (the best show since Doogie Howser MD, btw). Thus the quality of their episodes are meager at best. Even megavideo, who steals all of TV networks precious ad- revenue for building evil tree eating golems or w/e they do, enforces a time limit on the amount of data that can be seen. Again, the strength of the Hosting premise promises for a large payment on the dividends. Not only would attract back and keep strong the largely growing and annoyingly expanding community of WoW-playing hot pocket eating individuals, they would effective restore a percent if not an equal amount they wouldve lost through piracy. Taking the idea of “free money for free swag”, CBS will have followed the paths of MTV, CW, and the great and powerful ABC- our castle of King Lost.

Today we start a revolution( that was actually started by other sites long but will help this site greatly anyhow.) Today we stand in a country that has gone leaps and bounds from watch racist shows like Cops, Sopranos, and All in the Family to a country led by a black man who grew up in that hate tv era. Today we stand with our chins held up high in the knowledge that hope is not a 4 letter improbable word to a dream- a goal that will soon come to fruition. Today I believe that piracy can be fought, but not with guns or gore, but with large databases of shows and correctly placed advertisements. Today we can all together and strike two birds with one stone and with 3 words our own personal revolution we can begin a new era.

Kirby here coming at you from the mirage, taking a break from. The Las Vegas scene to talk to you about Intel’s new Mobile Processors, the Centrino 2. Intel had a consumer targeted laptop by Lenovo and I was lucky enough to get a clear explanation what this new mobile processor is capable of. The new system is much more powerful than any system with the original Centrino and is much much smarter and way more efficient with energy. What I mean is the the Centrino 2 system actually changes the hardware use and we can use more or less power depending on what application and how much power it would need. The model they had was equipped with an ATI mobile graphics card as well as with the integrated Intel graphics chip. So, when you start just browsing on say the internet or use a word processor, the system actually switches your system to only use the integrated graphics chip. But when you start to play more intensive apps, like games, it is smart enough to know that you would now need the ATI graphics card. Videos and more info soon. Today we came across many many new and futuristic and sexy tech. The first thing we saw in the Las Vegas Convention Center was the new Intel Atom. This new much smaller and much more efficient CPU replaces the Intel system controller hub for the new various pocket pcs.  Videos coming soon. We finally arrived no thanks to our fail passenger kevin d. I got my badge as seen in the photo attached. And now as as we walk to the LVCC( las vegas convention center ) we star our coverage!!!

Hey kirby and jay here. It’s 4am waiting at a parking lot for the rest our UCR IEEE crew and here at riverside it super cold.. We are super excited an we have about 1.7 million sqr ft. of venues to cover!! So as our journey continues we will be posting and updating you live when we arrive!! So for now this is jay and kirby signing off.

Update: it is now 7 am and one of our passengers whose name will not be mentioned(kevin dieu from ucr) is a total fail at life he is the cause in which we are still stuck in riverside. His dumb@$$ locked him self out of his room. So it is apperent that we will not be leaving for CES no earlier than 9am. But my excitement for sin city and ces allows me to over look his f*cking retardedness.

Changing subject, according to the planners we have received there will be several celebratiea present and we will hopefully be there on time to cover them. Today CNET will be presenting the best of awards for ces and we will update with the results if and when we get there in time.

Do you ever recall watching a 3-D movie without the glasses? Wasn’t it blurry? Did you know that some major films had to convert their 2-D movies into 3-D ( ex. Harry Potter ) or from 3-D to 2-D for home releases ( ex.  Journey to the center of the sun, and Beowulf )? Well, converting to and from 3-D for post-production can get costly and take time.

Dolby is already a game player in the 3-D cinema scene and is now targeting bringing 3-D entertainment to homes.

Dolby says it is currently talking with content providers about encoding its digital 3-D technology into Blu-ray movies. It declined to identify potential partners. The company is also working on getting its technology used in 3-D video games.

In its push into home 3-D, Dolby will face stiff competition in a nascent market. Many companies at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas will be showcasing various ways to bring 3-D into the living room.

Eventually they want a standard where the distributions of the movies would be in 3-D but can be watched with or without the glasses clearly.
