Team Fortress 2: Meet the Medic has Dropped, and TF2 is Now Free to Play

After many months of waiting, Valve has officially released the second to last of the “Meet the Team” videos. “Meet the Medic” is one of the longest “Meet the Team” videos and has been creating a buzz all over the internet.  And rightfully so, gamers have been waiting for this to drop since May 2009 when “Meet the Spy” came out.

Also, in this update Valve has made TF2 free to play, with tiered Free and Premium accounts.  If you have “ever spent money on TF2, you have a premium account.  This includes purchasing the game before it was Free-to-Play, activating a retail version of the game, or making a purchase in the Mann Co. in-game store.” It seems like this was hinted at with new free games showing up on Steam last week; this will help keep TF2 one of the most popular war-themed hat simulators since 2007.  Check out the video below!

A Claptrap Style Proposal

A Claptrap Style Proposal

Like most gamers, I start a relationship carefully, not showing my full geeky-nees until a few months in.  That wasn’t the case for Borderland and Gearbox fan Ben.  He had written to Gearbox, explaining that he and his girlfriend Tora loved playing through Borderlands.  Ben wondered if Gearbox could help him pop the question.

Of course you can’t have an epic proposal video without the reaction.

(Warning, the audio is super loud on this video, you may want to turn it down)

Stuff like this is what makes some developers miles ahead of others…could anyone see EA doing this? I think not.

Call of Duty 4: Parents of the Year Nominee – Let your 7 year-old Girl Trash Talk for You

This is one of the reasons why I like the minor paywall for Xbox Live over the wild-west approach of PSN. I thought It was bad being called a “fag” every few minutes on Xbox Live, but this definatly takes the cake.

I don’t know about you, but this is horrible that anyone would let a kid talk like that.  Let alone 7 years old.  I hope someday to have one or two gamer kids, and if any of them talk like this they are getting a month with out the internet.

Sailor Moon Returns to the US in September

Kodansha USA , announced today the revival of Sailor Moon manga series.  The last edition of Sailor Moon was published in mid 2005.

Brand new deluxe editions of the acclaimed series will be released by Kodansha USA’s Kodansha Comics imprint in September 2011. Out of print for six years, SAILOR MOON re-launches along with Takeuchi’s two-volume prequel series CODENAME: SAILOR V, in print in the US for the first time-making this one of the most highly anticipated manga releases in years.

There seems to be some excitement on the blogosphere about this release, and with Kodansha’s partnership with Random House, I’m sure this release will be a hit.

The Mii’s Court

The Mii’s Court

Ahh, The People’s Court.  Staple of my elementary school sick days and the original reality TV.  Never would I think that  a civil case over the installiation of a modchip would be featured.  For Joseff Ben David, $160 is enough to take his “former” friend to the courtroom.  That price for a modchip  in a new* Wii seems like alot to me, but I never modded mine.

Like Killing Nazi Zombies but Hate Hi-Res Graphics?

The Nacht der Untoten (German for “Night of the Undead”) is a pretty popular game mode, wherein players fight against a never-ending horde of undead Nazi Soldiers.  I know I’m not the only one to have spent many-a hours pounding back Mountain Dew playing.

It was only a matter of time before someone decided he or she could take the idea to another game engine; however, not one person was expecting the Minecraft engine though.
