It’s Father’s Day weekend, so Leland and Spooky wanted to watch a suitable tale of paternal love. Thus, Bill Cosby’s Ghost Dad. 

What a terrible mistake that was.

This 1990s family comedy, directed by the great Sir Sidney Poitier, is still one of the worst things the guys have ever watched. This weekend when you sit down to watch something with your dad, make sure you watch a good old-fashioned action-fest with lots of violence. Because if you watch this, your father will look at you differently, and that’s not cool.

Movie Issues: Flash Gordon

So this week the boys travel to the planet Mongo and “help” defeat the the evil Ming the Merciless in the 1980 film Flash Gordon. The movie being most notable for its soundtrack composed, performed and produced by the rock band Queen. Honestly the soundtrack is the best part of this movie. This is a rough watch for Spooky but Leland was in nostalgia heaven. So join us and find out if Flash is the saviour of the universe or just a chump.

Yes, we watched Masters of the Universe the 1987 He-Man movie that barely has anything to do with He-Man. It’s a special kind of movie and one we really enjoyed watching. So join us and see if you have the power to stomach this terrible movie.

This week the guys decide to take off their awesome 80s glasses and see the truth in They Live, the 1988 sic-fi/horror flick from horror master John Carpenter. They Live is considered a cult film that all cult film enthusiast should see.

Movie Issues: Dark Shadows Review

Based on the 1960s television show of the same name: Dark Shadows is the story of Barnabas Collins, a vampire turned after breaking the heart of a witch. Buried alive, he is accidentally set free in 19721 and returns to his beloved town and family home of Collinwood, now occupied by his dysfunctional descendants.

Directing this new take and homage to the TV show is macabre master Tim Burton. Once more bring his quirky style and morbid sense of humor to another dark story.

Movie Issues: The Avengers

Well this is the day Leland and Spooky have been waiting for The Avengers opens today. So in honor of that, we watched the 1998 classic The Avengers.

This is a truly terrible, terrible film that should never be seen again. Based on the 1960s TV show: this brought an old James Bond, Voldemort and Poison Ivy together on screen, and Spooky’s never been the same. So drop on in and listen as we try to understand what was just going on in this movie.
