Review – The OA

Netflix’s newest supernatural drama “The OA” has jumped into our queues, and on a whim I called it up. And then blew through it way faster than I expected. And I honestly don’t know if I can recommend it or not.

(No spoilers, but I do talk around the edges of several scenes, so if you’d rather watch the show first and then head back here to tell me what you think, I’m totally okay with that.)

Review – DC Rebirth Holiday Special

If you need a break from all the gloom and bad feelings going around lately, the Rebirth Holiday Special is the way to do it. I liked some of the stories more than others, but I enjoyed all of them, and while some of them tended to beat you over the head with tidings of comfort and joy, they mostly did it with nudges and winks.

Review and Preview – Transformers: Lost Light #1

It’s finally here, the series that picks up where More Than Meets the Eye left off. Lost Light hits shelves tomorrow, but does it live up to the legacy MTMTE left behind? Better question: is the story as goofy and badass and complex with all the feels? Does it have the same jaw-droppingly gorgeous art?

(Yeah, I’ve set the bar kind of high. What can I say, I’m a fan.)

See below for preview pages and a spoiler-free review of Transformers: Lost Light #1.

Review & Preview – Transformers More Than Meets The Eye – Revolution 1

This is my favorite book in the entire Revolution event, hands down. Not only is the art fantastic and the writing brilliant, but it’s like they took all of my qualms about Revolution (lots of humans, franchises I didn’t follow) and said “Here. This is for you. You’ll like it.” And I did, I really really did.

See below for more spoiler-free jumping up and down about Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye – Revolution 1. Or skip the review and just buy the book. I promise I won’t be mad.

Gallery – DesignerCon 2016

Hundreds of artists attended this year’s DesignerCon in Pasadena, and the Convention center was packed with beautiful and bizarre creations: over 90,000 square feet (spilling over into a third giant room and part of the lobby space) was filled with designer toys, prototypes, paintings, plushies, figures, statues, jewelry, and a lot more. Check out our gallery of the ridiculous amounts of talent featured in this year’s Con.

Review – The Complete Marvel Cosmos: With Notes by the Guardians of the Galaxy

Have you been wishing you could just get away lately? Take a trip somewhere far away? I mean really far away? You’re in luck; Hidden Universe Travel Guides has released the Complete Marvel Cosmos, a travel guide that gives you tips and tricks for some of the best destinations in the Marvel Universe, from the Savage Land all the way to Svartalfheim. And your copy is extra special, because the Guardians of the Galaxy got ahold of it first and scribbled all kinds of notes in it.

Seriously, the writing in this book is already more interesting than what you’d usually get from a fictional guide book, but the quips and insults the Guardians keep throwing at each other are what makes it brilliant.
