Pokémon: Am I Growing Up, or is the Game Getting Younger?

As soon as my Best Buy opened on the Sunday release, my boyfriend and I rushed over to buy our pre-ordered Pokémon Black and White games, the first game I had actually taken the time out to pre-order in some time. I slipped Pokémon White into my DS as soon as we got home, only stopping to rest when I had to go to work and to sleep.  I finished it within the week of getting it, but it was not a triumphant feeling like I had felt in the past.  Instead,  I felt rather neutral about the whole thing, which made me wonder if the game itself had changed, or if I had changed.

I had not played the SoulSilver and HeartGold generation.  I bought it, but was rather bored since it was the exact same thing as the regular Silver game from the Game Boy.  I waited and waited until Black and White was released to really get my dose of Pokémon.  I bought the White version, so I will reference to that version for this article.  Warning: there will be many spoilers.  If you have not already played the game, I would suggest reading this later.

[Rumor] Is There a New Microsoft Console in the Works?

A number of news sites have been handing out rumors that there may be a new Microsoft game console on the way, even potentially being announced at E3.  Have the news sites jumped the gun however?  After all, there is currently a beta going on for Xbox 360 to test a new disc type.  Why would they release a new disc type only to release a new console immediately afterwards?

Aiken Labs: Moving On to the Next Motion Controllers

We are all familiar with the big name motion controllers (or non-controller in the case of the Kinect), but have we done all that we can do with motion control?  Aiken Labs says, “No, absolutely not.”  So the company did something that’s not only entirely different, but what I believe has the potential to be even better.

How could it be better though?  How could it be more ground breaking than the Wii, more precise than the PS3 Move, or more innovative than the Kinect?  What if I told you that it could be used with anything with a USB port or that you, as the user, get to program what each of your movements do?

King of Chinatown

I like documentaries. Not enough to pick them out on my Netflix queue, but enough that I do not mind watching them in class or running across them on TV. So when my friends Celeste, Andy, and Fred told me they were going to watch the “King of Chinatown” documentary at PAX East, I thought I would tag along.

I am ever happy I did. The documentary by Psycho Crusher Productions caught professional gamer Justin Wong’s journey at an incredible and controversial time.

[PAX East 2011] – Mortal Kombat First Impressions

I have never really been into fighting games, but I did play some Mortal Kombat for Sega Genesis back in the day.  It has been quite some time since I played it, so I did not really know what to expect.  Almost surprisingly, besides the graphics and smoother mechanics, the game play itself is virtually the same as I remember it (in a good way).
