Review: Titans Return

“The planet reeks of concession. It’s time to wipe the slate clean. Tear down, so that we might rebuild.

Hot off the presses, it’s the latest IDW graphic novel, Transformers: Titans Return. A tyrannical leader from Cybertron’s past has returned from the dead, and he’s looking to make a few changes to the home world of the Transformers. Nothing too drastic, he’s just going to bring in an entire army of undead Metrotitans to kill everyone on the planet.

If you read Transformers on a regular basis then you’ll  already be familiar with the content here; it collects issues 56-57 of both the regular The Transformers title and More Than Meets The Eye, along with the Titans Return one-shot issueHowever, if you find it a little hard sometimes to follow the story from month to month across two titles (like I do), and you were thrown for a loop by scheduling problems that caused some of the chapters to be released out of sequence, this book puts the whole story together in its intended order.

Review – Justice League of America: Vixen Rebirth #1

I’ll admit it, I’m more unfamiliar with Vixen than I am with any other DC character (except, you know, folks like Dream Girl or Scandal Savage or anyone who hasn’t had a TV show in the last decade.) I hoped this issue would be a good jumping on point for the character. See below for preview pages and a review of Justice League of America: Vixen Rebirth #1.

Review and Preview – Love: the Dinosaur

The fourth book in Frédéric Brrémaud and Federico Bertolucci’s “Love” series will be available next month, but we’ve got a quick look at it today. The art is as gorgeous as the other three volumes, and the story is just as in depth (and downright depressing) as we’ve come to expect from this series. See below for preview pages and a review of Love: the Dinosaur.

Review – DC Rebirth Holiday Special

If you need a break from all the gloom and bad feelings going around lately, the Rebirth Holiday Special is the way to do it. I liked some of the stories more than others, but I enjoyed all of them, and while some of them tended to beat you over the head with tidings of comfort and joy, they mostly did it with nudges and winks.

Review and Preview – Transformers: Lost Light #1

It’s finally here, the series that picks up where More Than Meets the Eye left off. Lost Light hits shelves tomorrow, but does it live up to the legacy MTMTE left behind? Better question: is the story as goofy and badass and complex with all the feels? Does it have the same jaw-droppingly gorgeous art?

(Yeah, I’ve set the bar kind of high. What can I say, I’m a fan.)

Review & Preview – Transformers More Than Meets The Eye – Revolution 1

This is my favorite book in the entire Revolution event, hands down. Not only is the art fantastic and the writing brilliant, but it’s like they took all of my qualms about Revolution (lots of humans, franchises I didn’t follow) and said “Here. This is for you. You’ll like it.” And I did, I really really did.

See below for more spoiler-free jumping up and down about Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye – Revolution 1. Or skip the review and just buy the book. I promise I won’t be mad.
