SDCC 2012 – Teen Titans Go!

SDCC 2012 – Teen Titans Go!

In 2003, Cartoon Network’s Teen Titans animated series debuted, and for five years the tales of young heroes on the verge of becoming the next generation of super heroes built a strong and faithful following.  The series blended heroic stories with the comedy of most children’s programing, but in 2008 the series was canceled and Robin, Beast Boy, Raven, Starfire, and Cyborg disappeared from television.

That is, until in 2012 a new version was revised and shorts were added to Cartoon Network’s new DC Nation block of programing.  Now on the backs of their re-found popularity the Teen Titans are getting a second chance in the new series Teen Titans GO!

This year at San Diego Comic-Con I got the chance to speak with Michael Jelenic (Brave and the Bold) and Aaron Horvath (Mad) about the upcoming revival of Teen Titans and what we can expect from the old gang this time around.

SDCC 2012 – Beware the Batman

With very little to go on, Beware the Batman has raised a lot of questions about the nature of the show.  This year’s San Diego Comic-Con gave us our first chance to speak with creators Mitch Watson and Glen Murakami and find out what will be coming  for fans in this new incarnation of the Dark Knight.

Darksiders II Hands-On Impressions

Darksiders II Hands-On Impressions

THQ and Vigil Games had a promising hands-on demo of upcoming title Darksiders II available for play on the Comic-Con 2012 exhibition hall floor.

The original Darksiders was the bombastic saga of the Horseman of War’s journey through the charred and crumbling ruins of an Earth conquered and swept clear of all human life. An alloy of game mechanics and concepts from many disparate sources, I’ve come to appreciate it more than my original review might indicate – sure, it was derivative and melodramatic and clearly trying very hard to impress us with its machismo, but it had genuine storytelling promise, mechanical competence, and more than a few genuinely entertaining features.

All the same, Darksiders II‘s demo was a pleasant surprise.

San Diego Comic-Con: Yay for Unexpected Preview Nights!

I wasn’t planning on picking up my Comic-Con press badge until Friday morning, since I work until 8pm most nights. This means I’d had no plans on attending the Wednesday Preview Night.

But last night I got word that I’d be helping out with an interview Friday morning. As in first thing Friday morning. As in 8:30am, which is also the earliest you can possibly pick up a badge. As in: “Oh. I think that means I need to get my butt downtown in a hurry because by Friday morning it’ll be too late.”
