Two Geeks and a Podcast #Twelve – Be A Superhero

Greetings glorious geeks!

This week’s podcast is a big one, clocking in well over our normal 30 min goal, but our talk today could not be constrained or rushed into half an hour.  Last week while at Gateway 2015 we were faced with sexism in a very direct way and we want to talk about it with our audience.  We won’t let bigotry go unnoticed and leave victims feeling alone.  We want to see our beautiful and amazing geek community unite and banish this kind of ignorance from the world.  By telling our story on this podcast we hope to educate and inspire others to stand side by side with their fellow human beings and defend each other from hatred.  Buckle up, this one’s gonna get heavy.

We’re a little late, BUT WE’RE BACK!

After a turbulent month these Two Geeks are back in action recounting their tales of a Magical Kingdom where they Toured the Stars, met amazing talking animals, and celebrated their birthdays! It wasn’t all mouse ears and rainbows though as a couple dark clouds loomed over head… we’re fine though.

This week we also get into the element of competition at the game table and life to see if it’s a good thing to have or not and how it doesn’t matter what game you play, it’s always more fun with other people.

Tabletop gaming is on the rise and new games are being released every month. With this long loved hobby coming back into mainstream gaming, it can become intimidating for new gamers to get into the swing of things.

Boards, Dice, & Advice is a column for new and beginner gamers. I have been working in the Tabletop industry for about 2 years now and I love what do. I am learning new things with each new game I play, but there is so much to learn when it comes to tabletop games and it can be intimidating. I plan on sharing what I do know and as I continue to learn along the way I’ll be bringing it all to you.

Two Geeks and a Podcast #Three – Kingdom Con Shenanigans

Greetings glorious geeks, Anthony and Ashley are back for your bi-weekly dose of the adventures of Two Geeks and a Podcast!

On today’s podcast Anthony & Ashley recount their adventures this past weekend at Kingdom Con 2015, San Diego’s own Table Top and Gaming convention.  Among the card slingers, dice shooters, and miniature movers the community driven convention is unlike any other with its family game night vibe Kingdom Con feels more like your favorite game night than the typical showcase of vendors.  While headmaster, and PG Podcast Alum, “Boss” Ross Thompson steering the ship he managed to spare Two Geeks a little bit of his time to talk Kingdom Con’s history, it’s future, and Anthony & Ashley’s favorite event, Drunk Quest’s Tournament of Heroes where the Boss was on hand to present the release of the official “King Ross” hero card.

Listen in and join in on the fun by emailing us @ TwoGeeksAndAPodcast@Gmail.com!

Creative Assembly Unleashes Total War: Warhammer Cinematic!

Game Development is a rocky, uncertain, and complicated industry. It’s full of smaller studios that don’t have the funding to realize their goals, studios financially beholden to publishers that exert far too much pressure in terms of expectation, design philosophy, or punishing deadlines.

While the rise of indie developers like Mojang, the advent of studio-friendly publishers like Paradox and Devolver, and the normalization of crowd-funding have done a lot to improve the state of the market, we still regularly see lamentable events like the closing of veteran studios Maxis and Ensemble.

This is correct. This is how this should be.

It is therefore positively refreshing to see a long-standing studio with a reputation for excellence born from a long line of deep, intricate, amazingly detailed and beautiful games do well. It is doubly so to see that studio branch successfully into different genres, and do so with that same intricacy and attention-to-detail.

And it is almost too much to bear when that studio, who has made a name for itself with years of hard work, acquires an intellectual property that is ideally suited to their predilection to intricacy and authenticity.
