LEGO Engagement Proposal – Too Cute

Sun, Oct 18, 2009

Now here is a very cute way to ask a girl to marry you.  Especially if you both love LEGO bricks.

This set was taken the day of our LEGO Engagement (July 18, 2009). We were technically celebrating our dating anniversary, and since we regularly buy LEGO sets for each other, she didn’t suspect a thing.”

Joe gave his now fiance 3 LEGO sets.  Each one providing a small clue as to what Joe will be asking her after she opened all three gifts. Each set was customized to look like the couple and hint at the proposal.

The first LEGO set was called “Kristin and Joe” which had two look-a-like minifigs riding bikes. The second was “our favorite things” which included small pieces that looked like a flat screen TV, keyboard, pizza, and books.  The third and final LEGO set was called “Engagement Picnic” which was made to look like the couple at that exact moment.

A very cute and creative way to ask a girl to marry her. Congrats Kristin and Joe!

Last year, Jessica celebrated her 22nd birthday.  Her bestfriend baked her a cake.  At first all us were relectant to eat such a cute cake.  Why would we want to ruin this masterpiece? But after gutting this poor Domo, we knew we had to “FINISH HIM.” NOM!!!!!!!!

More photos of what the insides of a Domo-Kun looks like after the break. (more…)

Greatest Mug Invention I’ve seen so far

Here is a mug that made me smile big.  Mainly because I’m such a cookie monster. I love all kinds of cookies.  Add some milk (lactaid please) and thats what I call an awesome snack.  Now, with this new mug invention, I would be able to carry them both with one hand! This really blew my mind. But not only did the people at Mocha think about the cookie monster of the world, they also thought about people like me. The lefties.

“Left handed dunkers haven’t been forgotten either as it’s available in both right and left handed versions. The slot of the Dunk cup should always face away from you when drinking so that the biscuits in the slot slide towards the back of the mug rather than onto your lap.”

Great invention Mocha. I just might be buying one of these real soon.

Geeky Moment – An iNtErNet pEt peEvE oF mInE

Screen shot 2009-09-29 at 3.33.28 PM

I remember back when AOL was the biggest ISP on the market and online chatrooms were relatively safe, everyone typed normally.  Sure there were some mispelled words here and there, but it was ok. Everyone understood each other and hardly anyone abused the CAPS LOCK. But then, the internets started becoming mainstream.  I think by the time I turned 16 or so, other “teenie” boppers started to poke their heads into chatrooms to see what all the fuss is about. How did I know they were “teenie boppers”?  They typed LyKe DiSh.

Now, travel to present day internets and you have so many different kinds of acronyms, different kinds of “speaks” (leetspeak, lolcat, geekspeak, etc.), and emoticons.  That’s all fine and sometimes funny to read, but one thing stood the test of time. Uppercase, lowercase typing.  This is my biggest internet pet peeve of mine and I really don’t understand how it is still here.

Why do people think iSh SoOoOoOoO kEwL 2 tYpE lYkE dIsH? Damn, just typing like that made me angry. I guess it gets under my skin because when I first saw that kind of typing it was like kids stomping on my internet lawn. Call me old but, if you see a full paragraph of that, it’s hard to read and it gets annoying to me.

Does it make you look cool if you type like that? I really don’t see the point of it but I do hope to see the end of it soon.

Facebook copies Twitter with @mentions

mentions.jpg

Facebook has been busy lately, first introducing Facebook Lite, a stripped down simple version of the site for those who don’t want to wait or sift through the main site. The second introduction today is the inclusion of @mentions in status updates. Taking a page from Twitter, people can tag their friends in updates using the @ tag to induce a user selection screen. The @ symbol isn’t actually displayed in the update, but it just goes to show that the @mentions that started first with Twitter have transcended the social networking site to become a more universally recognised tag.

GOGIRL: Women Can Pee Standing UP!

Thu, Sep 3, 2009

Ok, whats the saying?

“If it’s not broken, don’t fix it”?

YouTube Preview Image

As a fellow lady, I would never! EVER want to pee while standing up!

Sure, I get jealous at times, because guys are able to just point and shoot, but I wouldn’t want to carry that around with me in my purse.

Can you imagine a lady putting that into her carry on and being stopped by TSA? Or a mom trying to pull her wallet out of her purse and having that plastic….cup fly out and land on the floor?!

Not worth it. And besides, that would mean I would have to wash that every time I peed.

Thanks, but no thanks, I’d rather just tough it out and squat.

Welcome my Lord, to a kingdom of fantasy and empty wallets!

Welcome my Lord, to a kingdom of fantasy and empty wallets!

Saturday, August 29th.  I wake up with a purpose.  I wake up with a renewed vigor and zeal for being a geek.  I wake up… To go to the Greater Pittsburgh  Renaissance Festival!  I know this makes me into some sort of übergeek, but something about trumpets heralding my family’s arrival to a little wooden village straight out of the middle ages makes me get far more excited than I should be for the Money-spending Fest. After being delayed by about 30 minutes to get my morning WoW addiction of fishing dailies in and a short 40 minute drive, we arrived at the Kingdom.

Tuesday Musing: Visual Kei

Tue, Aug 25, 2009

A recent special on the ongoing Visual Kei movement in Japan and abroad (in this case Paris) had brought about my questioning of the style in general. While the style is noted as being a creation of the 80’s with groups like Malice Mizer, etc… it is interesting to look back at some of the styles that inspired this trend from the decade before; in the US. Early glam rock and David Bowie rang a bell for me. “Everything old becomes new again” seems to apply here.

Visual Kei

Any other styles or trends do you want to see make another swing through pop culture?
