This week the guys getty on up and ride into the sunset of the wild wild west! That’s right, we finally got around to watching the 1995’s The Quick and the Dead, the Sam Raimi directed western where Sharon Stone enters a deadly dueling competition in an attempt to exact revenge for her father’s death by taking on Gene Hackman.  Thus drama ensues. This week the guys go and get their holiday animation on! They watched the 2012 animated flick, Rise of the Guardians. You know, that movie where Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny, The Tooth Fairy, The Sandman and Jack Frost all have to team up and fight The Boogie Man. Yup! This week the guys get their LARP on by watching the  2013’s Knights of Badassdom. We follow a bunch of LARPers for their big LARP weekend, but trouble arises after they unwittingly conjure up some serious evil in the form of a blood-lusting succubus from the pits of hell itself! It’s a comedy filled blood fest with really good horror effects, an awesome looking demon, and Peter Dinklage being the coolest dude ever. Movie Issues: Little Shop of Horrors

This week the guys traveled down to skid-row and rocked out to 1986s Little Shop of Horrors. The musical movie based off the off broadway show, which itself was based off the 1960s Roger Corman movie of the same name. Whew, got all that? Anyway, it’s the movie about a giant man eating plant that has come from outer space to destroy our world, like all space things do. Sit back as we discuss the love for the plant puppet and we get into a massive conversation about X-Men: Day of Future Past. It’s seems to be business as normal here at the Movie Issues HQ.

This week the guys watched the 1994s The Shadow. The story of pulp hero Lamont Cranston who learns to “cloud men’s minds,” a form of mystical, psychic hypnosis that allows him to influence others’ thoughts and bend their perceptions. With his new power he becomes The Shadow and hero from 1930s New York. But wouldn’t you know it, last descendant of Genghis Khan wants to take over the world and it’s up to The Shadow to stop him. Movie Issues: Cleopatra Jones

We here at Movie Issues love a good Blaxploitation action film, and this week we watched one of the best ones in showing us a strong female kicking ass and taking names: Cleopatra Jones from 1973.  We follow Cleopatra Jones, who is a United States Special Agent assigned to crack down on drug-trafficking in the U.S. and abroad. After she burns a Turkish poppy field, the notorious drug-lord Mommy is furious at the loss of her supply and vows to destroy Cleopatra Jones. Then the shit gets real, and it’s an all-out-war between these two ladies.
