New York Comic Con Cosplay

New York Comic-Con: a place where people can break out of their shells and show off versions of their favorite characters. As with all comic-cons, there were hundreds of people participating in the cosplay. Although most of the costumes were a bit questionable, there were those that stood out and kept our attention.

Go past the break to see our photos.

Jessica Nigri continues her quest to make our beloved characters sexier

We first caught a glimpse of Jessica Nigri at the 2009 Comic Con posing as one hot Pikachu.  Then, we saw her again at the 2010 Comic Con.  Now, she has sent us new pictures of her latest cosplay creation of what seems to be a cross between a playboy bunny and Zero Suit Samus.

I’ve asked her what character she’ll be “sexifying” next. But, she said it was a “secret.” Oh well. For all the pictures, go past the break.

The Zelda Project – Taking Cosplay to Another Level

The Zelda Project – Taking Cosplay to Another Level

Cosplay is an art form that takes a lot of time, dedication, and money.  At almost every event that the Pixelated Geek staff covers, we are impressed with what dedicated fans do to represent their favorite franchise and/or character.  However, it is not often that we are blown away by such fantastically detailed costumes.

Recently, we were tipped off about a group of very dedicated cosplayers that are recreating the Zelda universe in real life.  The Zelda Project (TZP) is a grassroots cosplay project originally thought out by costume designer, Sarah Quillian. The TZP team’s goal is to create a very detailed and unique film trailer by December 2011.  The first part of their project, which is currently underway, consists of creating the costumes, hiring the right looking actors that look similar to the characters, finding the right locations that could represent Hyrule, then creating beautiful photosets like the one seen past the break.

[BAotW @ DragonCon 2010] So…Many…Cosplayers…

So, first things first- I am no cosplayer.  I am much too lazy to put together a costume, let alone take the time to make it look even acceptable.  So when I go to conventions and see the time and effort others put into their costumes, I am completely amazed.  That takes serious creativity and non-laziness which I fail to have.  But this past weekend at DragonCon I noticed a few certain cosplayers who went past the standard of costuming and made their outfits even better than the already incredible crowd. And I have to admit, the results were pretty freaking badass.

[DragonCon 2010] One More Cosplay Post from DragonCon

James, Shauna, and I have returned from the Peach State and have a decompression article coming at you very soon.  Until then, satiate your thirst for more cosplay with… well… more cosplay!  These following pictures were taken mostly at the Victorian/Steampunk Ball Sunday night and during the insanity that happened on the streets of downtown Atlanta well into the wee hours of the morning.  It should be noted that, at the same time as DragonCon, there was the opening SEC game of the season; an African-American gay and lesbian pride conference; and one of Ludakris’ downtown block parties.  No joke.  The streets were lined with mad fun!  You might also notice a few celebs that we clearly met.  Check it out after the break.

[DragonCon 2010] CosPlay Pics from the First Day!

Yay!  We’re all here in Atlanta now, so I thought I’d flavor your late-night internets-ing with some cosplay pics from day one of DragonCon.  I thought PAX East had some amazing cosplayers, and then I got to the downtown Peachtree Center and witnessed what can only be dubbed “the abundance.”  I’ll let the pics do the talkin’.  Check after the break for the galleria.
