[Comic Con 2010] Preview Night Cosplay

During the 3 hours of walking around the exhibit floor of Comic Con, we didn’t see much cosplaying going around.  But, for the few that did cosplay, we really enjoyed Harley Quinn, White Queen and the Mad Hatter.  Not only were their costumes very highly detailed, but they also stayed in character right down to their body language and accents. To see the photos, go past the break.

[Anime Expo] Team Fortress 2 Cosplayers being silly

[Anime Expo] Team Fortress 2 Cosplayers being silly

Team Fortress 2 is already a silly game to begin with. It has characters with accents from all across the world, wacky guns, and a drunk one-eyed black Scotsman. In the video past the break, I was surprised to see a small gathering of TF2 cosplayers having lunch.  I think the heavy was doing his impression of a drunk David Hasselhoff.

[Anime Expo] Cosplay Galore Part 2 – Warning: Lots of pics

At this year’s Anime Expo, we did our best to take a photo of every awesome looking cosplayer. When I say “awesome” I mean stuff that probably took more than 1 week to think up and create.  In the gallery past the break, you’ll see some of the cosplayers from the expo floor as well as the cosplayers that participated in the masquerade event. Enjoy.

Cosplay Goodness [PAX East]

Cosplay Goodness [PAX East]

It’s what you’ve been waiting for.  You know it’s true.  It’s a conference, an expo, a super-splendid geek amassing.  And this can only mean one thing: the cosplay was out of control.  And, you’d be right: Justin, Rett, and I saw the gamut of cosplayers at PAX East.  We witnessed anime superstars, gaming heroes and villains, and the occasional sexy/confusing/bewildering/hilarious whatchamacallit from whatsits game about schmagglesbuggery (that last one I totally made up and am super proud of it).  Anyway, without further delay, check out the cosplay glory after the break.  I snapped as many pics as my little digital camera could hold and my geeky brain could handle without laughing or hemorrhaging from facial orifices.  Enjoy!

MegaCon 2010 (Warning: lots of pics!)

Ok, let me first introduce you to what MegaCon is: Mega Convention (read: giant nerd fest). It’s held every year in the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. They have something there for just about everyone: comics, manga, anime, movies, artists, collector’s items (action figures, figurines, etc…), video games, swords, dice, clothing, and plenty of miscellaneous stuff. One of the things you’ll also notice before you even get in is that there is a lot of cosplay; there’s even a contest for it! Now that you’re aware of the awesomeness of this convention, I took plenty of pics below for you to see what it’s like.

The making of Voltron Girl

The making of Voltron Girl

Watch out Yaya Han.  This girl might grow up to be one bad ass costume designer or cosplayer. Grim Hammer (a.k.a. BEST DAD IN THE WORLD) has posted pictures of his process in making one of the most awesome and cutest costumes I have ever seen. This “Voltron Girl” has made its rounds around the net but still no one has seen the other bad ass yet cute costumes he has made.

Like what other costumes you may ask? Well how about Bumblee from Transformers? Or Maybe a Megazord from Power Rangers? And how about my new favorite, PREDATOR!

Check out more Voltron process photos here and Grim Hammer’s blog here.

Tell us a bit about yourself?

Hello, my name is Yaya Han and I am a cosplay idol and costume designer currently residing in Atlanta, GA. I have been making costumes and modeling for over 10 years now and am one of the only cosplayers in the world to turn this hobbyist activity into a career. I guess you can say that I’m a household name in the world of geekdom. I travel world-wide to teach workshops and panels on costume making, and to judge contests and host events, not to mention constantly working on new costume projects. I have a lot of fun playing dress up every week but also work hard and never have a day off lol.

Playboy tries some Bayonetta Cosplay [NSFW]

Posted by: |

Playboy is running some sort of cosplay contest between 5 girls asking you, the web surfer/gamer, to vote for the hottest version of Bayonetta.  In my honest opinion, I think its just another cry from Playboy asking for hits and trying to become the next Maxim.  But then again, I did go to the site to see the goods. None of those Playboy girls get my vote, because none look like the real Bayonetta.  If the hired model that dressed as Bayonetta at last years E3 was one of the candidates for this, she would definitely get my vote.
