World of Starcraft Becoming a Reality, Thanks to Hardcore Fans [Gameplay Trailer] – Updated

For years, Starcraft fans all over the world have been after Blizzard to use their well-developed skill-set in the MMORPG genre to craft a title set in the world of Starcraft.  Well, some fans got tired of waiting and got busy making.

Using the very powerful Starcraft 2 map editor, these fans created a pre-alpha version of what they call World of Starcraft.  The trailer past the break shows that it is not only possible to make a MMO for the Starcraft franchise, it’s possible to make it look pretty awesome.

The theme used for the Inception trailer entitled “Mind Heist” can be recognized by almost anyone thanks to its ominous beauty and the fact that it has been used in countless trailer mash-ups. With its loud “BONG” it can make any movie trailer look ten times better and sound much more dramatic. And when mashed-up with the right movie, it can leave you drooling for more. Ghost Recon Live Action Short

I’m really enjoying the fact that more marketing agencies are embracing the short film type of commercials to sell a video game.  Kids have been cosplaying as video game characters and making their own short films based on video games for a long time.  To see it actually done with a high-production value. like the Halo and Assassins Creed short films, makes it even more fun to watch. Below is the live action short film for the upcoming game Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon which comes out Fall 2010.

Aurora Borealis

The Aurora Borealis, better know as the Northern Lights, is a phenomenon caused by the collision of charged particles (electrons, protons and some heavier particles) from the Earth’s magnetosphere with atoms and molecules in the upper atmosphere induced by solar wind. This provides energy to the molecules causing a temporarily excited state which is then lost as light emission (mostly green, red and high blue/violet). This light emission creates one of the most beautiful natural phenomena known to man and can been seen flickering across the sky. Unfortunately unless you live or travel near to the North Pole, you’re very unlikely to see it yourself.
