Tech Review – MoblNRG Lithium Ion Battery

While we certainly enjoyed covering SDCC this year, we’re always battling one thing: our battery life on our smartphones and electronics. This year was no different. Between doing social networking, recording videos and taking pictures it was a chore to keep the smartphones charged.

What’s worse is when you discover you have less then 50% battery and it’s not even the middle of the day.

Luckily for us, a certain booth caught our eyes and came to the rescue, promising  a mobile solution to charging your devices. MoblNRG stepped up and took the SDCC challenge. So how did the MoblNRG lithium ion battery hold up? Did it give us the extra charge we needed to get through SDCC?

Review – Mophie Juice Pack Air

Sadly, San Diego Comic Con International comes but once a year. And with it officially behind us, it’s time to remember the fun. Or remember why we had so much fun, being that my iPhone had enough battery power to make it through.

Since having a kid last year, it’s been a while since I’ve covered a convention that spanned so many days. I was more than a little concerned about battery life for our devices, with our teams schedules packed tight with back to back interview madness. But in our hour of need, Mophie certainly came to the rescue with an offer to review their Mophie Juice Pack Air, an extra battery case for the iPhone 5. Nyko Power Pak+ – Extended Battery for 3DS [Gadget Review]

One of the main complaints consumers have had about the 3DS is its disappointing battery life – luckily, Nyko was waiting in the background with an oft-unnoticed solution, the PowerPak+. The PowerPak+ is a battery pack for the 3DS that charges using the 3DS’s charging cable, and claims to double the handheld’s life.

This accessory was released in stores in April, but was not widely received; much of the modicum of attention it did garner was negativity toward the fact that one must unscrew and remove the 3DS’s backplate in order to install it. Consumers balked at the idea of opening up their console; the general consensus was that they feared this would void the warranty or brick the console.

Ever the engineer, I took up this mantle with tentative excitement. I eagerly unscrewed the colorful back of my 3DS, pausing for just a moment to ponder the possible ramifications – though any fleeting worries quickly escaped as my curiosity took hold. After all, it wouldn’t be the first warranty I’ve voided, and it certainly won’t be the last.

[Gadget Review] Scosche goBAT II – Will last you a day and then some

Over the past week, I have been reviewing a rechargeable battery pack called the Scosche goBAT II,  a very slim and stylish battery pack that could easily be mistaken for a portable USB hard drive.

This device is very simple to use and charge and very convenient. The first thing you’ll notice when picking up this device is its two USB plugs.  With this device you can charge two gadgets on the go at the same time.  Now, just like any skeptical consumer, this gadget might be all looks and no power.  Read on for my full review.
