Blood & Chrome: A Battlestar Galatica Prequel

Almost a year after the two-hour pilot was shot we are now able to see what could become the third “modern” Battlestar Galatica series to be aired by the Syfy channel. The trailer promises a ride for the viewers not entirely unlike getting into a rocket sled and drinking an adrenaline and adrenaline cocktail. Blood and Chrome presents us with Luke Pasqualino, from Skins, as William “Husker” Adama on his first duty aboard the Galatica operating an important and secret mission during the tenth year of the first cylon/human war. While the previous BSG spinoff Caprica focused more on the political arena leading up to the conflict seen in Battlestar Galatica, it would seem that Blood and Chrome is delivering the political and religious struggle for power as aside dish to the CGI fueled action. Given that Syfy has begun to run promotions for Blood and Chrome we could see it arrive before the end of this year.

Update: Sadly it looks like the Video has been removed.

Update 2: SyFy is not planning a Blood & Chrome TV Series, though it is considering releasing it as a Digital Series.

Battlestar Galactica MMO – Trailer

Battlestar Galactica MMO – Trailer

Battlestar Galactica fanatics, get ready for an MMO just for you. Bigpoint and NBC have just released their announcement trailer for the BSG MMO.  The only problem with it is that it’s all cinematics and no gameplay. Yes, it does look pretty and awesome with Vipers and Toasters, but we must remember this. The BSG MMO is a browser based MMO.  So, I’m not really sure if I’m going to get my hopes up for this game.  But, I would like to be proven wrong.  We’ll have full coverage of this game during our live coverage of E3 2010.

Top Five Things to do on Spring Break

Spring Break is upon us here in North Carolina. A time for millions of college students to flood the beach of their choice and make the bad decisions of a life time! But for those of us who don’t aspire to be on the newest “Girls Gone Wild”, or in the background of a “Cops” episode we have to find other things to do with our time. So in honor of those that have eclectic, who am I kidding geeky taste, here are my top five thing to do during spring break.

SPRING BREAK 89!!

5) Go Larping (Live.Action.Role.Playing)

Just hanging out

Have you ever been sitting around the house watching Lord of the Rings and thought to yourself, “Hey, I could grow a beard like Gimli”, but you never had the guts to try it. Well these guys don’t stop there. They go big or go home. There is something about running through the woods with foam weapons that never gets boring. It is like a Nerf War for grown ups. But better. There are girls there pretending to be Elves. Just don’t try and mess with these guys, they are super hardcore.

OH MY GODS – Battlestar Galactica Browser Based MMO Announced

Ever wanted to track down, hunt and kill every human being in the universe? Ever wanted to break every fraking cylon toaster or skin-job for what they have done to the original Earth or Caprica? NBC and developer Bigpoint will give you that chance this fall.  On SyFy.com, the new browser-based MMO game will be launched with a free 30-day trial.

Players will be able to choose to be Human or Cylons, and the game will be a blend of tactical space combat, exploration, and mission-based gameplay featuring 3D graphics directly in your browser. Assets from the television production will be integrated into the game to deliver an even more authentic experience.

Anyone else as fraking excited as I am for this?

The general is a what?!: Negotiating the big reveal in RPGs

The party is resting.  They’ve received their healing from their priests, clerics, and salves.  A restful calm flows over the group following an intense combat that shook the very foundation of the earth.  With rogues counting their loot, paladins praying to their deities, and fighters sharpening their blades for the next row, a messenger named Steve enters the common room.  “The archmage wishes to speak with all of you.”  Everyone thinks congratulations are in order for a job well done.  They enter the archmage’s office, chests full of pride.  “Have a seat,” he silently speaks, “we need to talk.”  Uh-oh.

It's not the size that counts, unless you're JJ Abrams!

It's not the size that counts, unless you're JJ Abrams!

Ever wondered how big the new retro Enterprise is? Wonder no more dear friends, at a colossal 725.35 meters long it’s over two and a half times bigger than Shatner’s ship. That’s also bigger than Galactica for all those cross-franchise fans/fanboys but still only a scratch on the immense 1600m length of an Imperial Star Destroyer. Makes the ISS look a little bit piddly at a minuscule (yet none the less impressive) 107.4m in length, but don’t take my word for it, check it out:
